Published in conjunction with the first large-scale, multi-medium, posthumous retrospective of Willem de Kooning’s career, this publication offers an unparalleled opportunity to appreciate the development of the artist’s work as it unfolded over nearly seven decades, beginning with his early academic works, made in Holland before he moved to the United States in 1926, and concluding with his final, sparely abstract paintings of the late 1980s. The volume presents approximately 200 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints, covering the full diversity of de Kooning’s art and placing his many masterpieces in the context of a complex and fascinating pictorial practice.

Comments The Implications of Pop-Star Practices on the Future of Intellectual Property Meera Puri* ABSTRACT Major recording artists like Taylor Swift are taking advantage of the generous protections afforded to them by U.S. copyright and trademark laws. Swift has filed for, and received, numerous trademarks for lyrical phrases such as "This Sick Beat" and "Party Like It's 1989" and has threatened merchants selling handmade Swift-themed goods through the online marketplace, Etsy. Swift is primarily targeting fan-made artwork whose creators profit minimally, if at all, and that likely has little to no effect on Swift's own merchandise sales. Swift has also expressed strong opposition to music streaming services, such as Spotify, that other recording artists have praised for allowing consumers to easily and affordably access a wide array of music. Artists who share Swift's views have withheld their music from streaming services, demonstrating their disapproval of royalty policies that they believe undercompensate artists, producers, writers, and labels.

  • Madonna: Feminist Or Antifeminist? Domination of Sex in Her Music Videos and Live Performances from the 20Th Century to the Present Day
Received: July 6, 2015 Accepted: July 10, 2015 Original scholarly paper UDC: 78.071.2 Мадона:141.72 Katarina Mitić musicologist, music supervisor in record label Mascom Records, Serbia [email protected] Madonna: Feminist or Antifeminist? Domination of Sex in Her Music Videos and Live Performances From the 20th Century to the Present Day Abstract: After a nearly four-decade career, Madonna has not stopped with a modernist/pos- tmodernist strategy of shock, which provides the reader or viewer the possibility of different interpretations of her art. While some art theorists condemn her as a ‘total antifeminist’, others praise Madonna’s work and point out her feminist side, through which she represents the ideal of a strong, independent and successful womanconfirming her own power and sexuality. Brea- king conventional stereotypes through her videos and concert performances, the ‘Queen of Pop’ constantly demonstrates sexual dominance over both genders. In this paper, based on the con- temporary research of Douglas Kellner and other theorists, I will analyze music videos and live performances from the 1990suntil the recent video for the song Bitch, I’m Madonna and consider why Madonna can be interpreted in two ways – as someone who ‘undermines her own feminism’ or as someone who is transparently presented as a feminist in the world of pop culture. Key words: strategy of shock, feminist, antifeminist, video, live performance In today’s pop culture the element of shock is successfully implemented only by the most experienced and most cunning artists, or those backed by marketing machinery that is ready to come up with a new strategy to win the audience.

  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

  • Salvatore Bartolotta UNED Showgirl, Cantautora, Directora De Cine
Según Stephen Thomas Erlewine (2012): American Life is an album performed by a vocalist who has abandoned the U.S. for the U.K. and co-produced by a French techno mastermind, recorded during a time of strife in America, and released just after the country completed a war. Given that context and given that the vocalist is arguably the biggest star in the world, the title can’t help but carry some import, carry the weight of social commentary. And it follows through on that promise, sometimes explicitly and sometimes implicitly, but either way, American Life winds up as the first Madonna record with ambitions as serious as a textbook.

She has sold over 300 million records worldwide, making her the best selling female artist of all time. She has had a profound influence on pop culture often courting controversy for upsetting religious and moral sensibilities. Short Bio of Madonna Madonna, born Louis Cicconi, on 16 August 1958, was brought up in Rochester Hills Michigan. • Madonna. Like an Icon Buch
LUCY O’BRIEN Madonna. »Madonna.
