TEENS AND TWEENS OF PUEBLO:
HOW TO MAKE A 1-PAGE ZINE What’s a zine?
A zine is a homemade, handmade magazine about ANYTHING of its author’s or authors’ choosing. Zines can have one creator or multiple creators.
Zines can feature writing (anything from memoirs, interviews, fiction of any genre, manifestos, nonfiction, or anything else!), art (quick sketches, comics, fine art, or anything else), collage, or ANYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE.
You could use a zine as an underground paper for your school… or anything you want, to be honest. WHY MAKE A ZINE?
Because you have something to say or express.
Because you want to make something with your own hands.
Because you’d like a gift to give.
Because it’s fun and creative.
WHY NOT? GENERAL ZINE PRACTICE...
Zines frequently take the shape of numerous 8.5 For more information about zines and their x 11 inch paper (letter size) folded in half, often history, have a look at the following urls: stapled through the fold to keep them together. Zinesters find the cheapest means of copying http://altzines.tripod.com/ their work, staple them up, and send them out into the world of their choosing. Many towns http://www.zinebook.com/ and cities have zine fairs, where zinesters either swap zines or offer their work for $1/2/5. There are also a few distributors out there. But making http://zinewiki.com/Zine zines is a labor of love, not art folx practice to make money. You can also look on the Library’s catalog -- there are a number of zines, and books about zines available on Hoopla. 1-PAGE ZINES: Necessary materials
I am a fan of the one fold zine, and have been a minor collector (don’t ask to see my collection though -- I’m not sure how much of it will make it to Colorado!) But to get started, making a one-page zine is less time consuming and easier to complete.
ALL YOU NEED: A piece of blank paper A pair of scissors Writing/drawing materials
OTHER POSSIBLE MATERIALS Magazines Glue Glitter Whatever inspires you and will stay flat! 1-PAGE ZINES: 9 steps
Step 1: Lay your letter-sized piece of paper flat.
Step 2: Fold in it half, keeping the short side short.
Step 3: Unfold and refold the edges into the middle. 1-PAGE ZINES: instructions cont.
Step 4: Unfold and fold in half, this time keeping the long side long.
Step 5: Unfold and repeat step two.
Step 6: Use your scissors to cut halfway through from the center from the folded side. 1-PAGE ZINES: instructions cont.
Step 7: Unfold, repeat step four. Now you will see an opening in the center. Use the opening to fold the paper into the zine, making a little booklet.

I made a quick zine about being in virus-induced isolation in Pueblo. My furniture hasn’t yet arrived… Here are some pictures (forgive the yellow lined paper -- I don’t have any blank paper)... MY 1-PAGE ZINE: “HOLED UP WITH NO FURNITURE” FOLD, CUT, MAKE! If it would help, I have also made a video tutorial on how to make a 1-page zine.
