Robert Del Naja aka 3D : Ritual Sprit Private View: Tuesday 2nd February, 6-9pm Exhibition runs: 3rd February - 5th March 2016

Lazarides Editions is thrilled to welcome -based artist , aka 3D, with the launch of the new Massive Attack EP, . Coinciding with the band’s 3 sell-out shows at London’s Brixton Academy from 3rd to 5th February, the artist will takeover the South Bank gallery with the release of a hand-finished limited special edition EP, presented alongside a new boxset of limited edition prints and a selection of works by the artist that document the visual history of the band.

Ritual Spirit marks the band’s first release since Heliogoland in 2010. Each of the 300 limited edition 12” EP sleeves are artfully hand-finished by Del Naja in Lazarides’ own print studio on Greenwich Peninsula. 200 will be available for purchase for £30 at Sea Container House at 22 Upper Ground, SE1.

Celebrating the launch of Ritual Spirit, the artist has collaborated with Lazarides Editions’ studio to create 25 cloth- bound portfolios containing seven hand-crafted screenprints, each individually signed and numbered, featuring the artist’s iconic symbol prints. Splashed across their artwork, Del Naja’s imagery featured in the boxset has become instantly recognizable to fans globally as universal symbols and iconography for the band.

Specially commissioned limited edition lenticulars by the artist will be made available for the first time ever as well as a multi-media light box. Representing the history of the band’s visual culture are a diverse selection of multi-media works from £750 (ex VAT) that highlight the unique vision Del Naja has brought to music, design and popular culture. Massive Attack has continually reinvented the intersection of music and art through which they have created challenging, alternative, evocative aesthetics raising awareness of ethical, social and political issues of concern. Documenting this visual journey and also available in-store is 2015 Thames & Hudson hardcover edition 3D Art of Massive Attack and the special edition released in parallel by the Vinyl Factory.

The exhibition and EP release at Lazarides Editions follows the launch of Fantom - the sensory music app through which people first got access to Ritual Spirit. The ground-breaking app’s debut features an interactive interface that draws data from the user’s surroundings such as movement, time, camera and heartbeat to create personal dub mixes of the tracks http://www.thefantom.co Subsequent to the London leg of their tour there will be a second release of hand-finished EPs by Vinyl Factory’s The Store at Berlin’s Soho House to coincide with the band’s 17th/18th February tour schedule in the German capital.

Robert Del Naja

Robert Del Naja’s painting and graphic design work have represented the music of his band for over 2 decades. From the symbolic cover art of and Protection to his collaborative work with Tom Hingston and photographer Nick Knight on Mezzanine and , Robert’s visual ideas have served to illustrate the band’s musical themes and ideologies on 12 million record sleeves and LED light installations.

Robert has collaborated with many diverse organisations including The Hoping Foundation, Reprieve, Occupy and London’s (where he co-curated on the 2008 Festival) Under the tag 3D, he was a central figure in the Bristolian movement that would eventually spawn . Like his music, 3D’s art is modern and grounded, challenging and beautiful, industrial and ethnic. A vocal critic of the war, the conscious elements of the pieces are a reminder that Massive Attack have always been outspoken on social and international issues.

Robert is currently working on a new project commission for International Festival, Ruhr Festival and The Armoury in New York City with film maker as well as recording the next Massive Attack album.

Lazarides Editions

Lazarides Editions provides a dedicated platform for fine art prints from the Lazarides international stable of artists, exploring new developments in contemporary printmaking across a range of practices and media. Following the launch of the newly equipped print studios on Greenwich Peninsula, Lazarides Editions joins Lazarides Rathbone in profiling artists that collectively defy categorisation.

Alongside the launch of the new studio and online store, 2014 marked the opening of Lazarides Editions at Sea Containers on the Thames South Bank. The new gallery, within London’s globally acclaimed Mondrian Hotel, will present a comprehensive schedule of bespoke exhibitions, artist collaborations and independent events in addition to a revolving curation of notable print editions. Artist’s represented include: Antony Micallef, Brett Amory. Conor Harrington, 3D, Doug Foster, Invader, JR, Jonathan Yeo, Miaz Brothers, Oliver Jeffers, Ron English and Todd James.
