A NOTE FROM VINCENT BIA

DEAR CUSTOMERS, DEAR PARTNERS,

Before reviewing the year just ended and looking forward to the prospects for 2017, we would like to wish you a very happy new year, full of projects.

For BIA, 2016 ends on a globally positive note:

In Benelux, our new sales increased by more than 6% and, for the sale of KOMATSU IMC smart , BIA is in Eu- rope’s top 3 in terms of sales. We are very proud of this result.

It was a very good year for MATRENT too, as they increased their rental fleet to 60 Komatsu construction vehicles from 12 to 38 tonnes, with a strongly rising average usage rate. We will naturally strive to keep these positive trends going in 2017.

In Africa, the sharp drop in raw materials has depressed the markets. In this difficult environment, BIA Africa managed to retain its customers and win new markets, including a new fleet of 55 KOMATSU machines for a gold mine in .

The Transport Division has bolstered our offer with a complete range of Daimler-Foton buses and trucks, very much in tune with market conditions, and steadily growing sales.

It was also an exceptional year for Sandvik, with the sale of 15 drills all over Africa.

The sale of parts and services grew by a spectacular 19%, the logical result of the ongoing investment in training and appropriate , as well as the constant effort of the teams to fulfil our commitments in terms of availability of equipment.

These encouraging figures were naturally accompanied by growth in the teams: a total of 65 employees joined the group in 2016, and this trend will continue in the coming months to accompany the new service contracts.

The prospects for 2017 are positive, with a healthy order book and many projects in progress, signalling the return of confidence in the market.

With regard to our Ambitions 2020, three growth areas have been chosen:

1. To offer our customers global and innovative solutions, 2. To improve our expertise for a better response to needs, 3. Oper ational excellence, to guarantee customer satisfaction and sustainable growth.

In the next issue, we will discuss these points in greater detail.

Thanks to you, your trust and your encouragement, we are now more motivated than ever to respond to your constantly changing needs in innovative ways.

Thank you. Eric Perben (GM Africa), Véronique Godard (HR Director Group), Vincent Bia (Group CEO), Grégory de Jacquier (GM Benelux), Quentin Scouflaire (CFO Group & GM Group)

Less than two months later, SFTP MINING ordered two more GD755-5 graders. The fleet on the Mako site consists of Komatsu machines as well as Bomag compactors (BW212, BW218, and BW219).

SFTP MINING pays careful attention to the maintenance of its equipment. This maintenance means that they avoid machine downtime and the resulting costs. A BIA technician therefore works on the site every day. This technician maintains SFTP MINING's fleet, and is also in charge of monitoring some of the mining customer's machines. In addition, BIA has a dedi- cated stock for this customer at its subsidiary.

CONTINUING TRAINING OF OPERATORS: GD755 GRADER

There are two GD755-5 graders in the Senegalese fleet of SFTP MINING SN. These are the first GD755-5s that BIA has sold in Africa. Abdoulaye Diallo had the opportunity to see and test this new machine during one of his visits to the Ko- matsu factory in . He was convinced by its technical per- formance characteristics.

To train SFTP MINING's operators, Komatsu has sent one of its instructors to the site from Japan. He is accompanied by a BIA instructor. These training sessions allow optimum use of the equipment.

In this difficult economic climate, SFTP MINING is growing quickly and robustly in several African territories, thanks to the expertise of the Diallo family. Hats off to the Diallo family and their employees!

Michaël has a lot of contact with people every day: with operators, site managers, and competitors' technicians. He likes to observe that, over the years, bonds of friendship and co-operation have been created between these people. Even though Michaël is alone in his van, his working day is full of encounters. In addition, if he were facing a very tricky tech- nical problem, he knows he could count on the help of his BIA colleagues. And, in a really difficult situation, Michaël can always play the "Internet" card. The manufacturer intranets can give him all the information required.

THE FIRST HYBRID LIGHTING TOWERS IN THE NETHERLANDS

Four TecnoGen lighting towers were recently purchased by Rooseboom. This company operates in the Dutch construction market. It operates in a variety of projects such as earthworks, soil decontamination, asbestos removal, clearing, etc.

RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT ABOVE ALL! Rooseboom has not invested in just any product. It has chosen hybrid lighting towers. In addition to being especially quiet, these towers create very little pollution.

A NETWORK OF LOCAL DISTRIBUTORS IN BENELUX There are 18 distributors of Komatsu Utility machines in the Benelux . The aim of this network is for us to be as close as possible to our customers and their needs. Roose- boom then called on the utility partner 4ME, located in the province of Gueldre, to obtain these hybrid lighting towers. Discover our whole network on our home page.

CORPORATE BIA INVESTS IN TRAINING YOUNG PEOPLE

It is crucially important to train young people, because they are the future of our society. That is how BIA approached its participation in training the technical students of the town of Ciney.

For the fifth year in a row, the Ciney Provincial School of Agro- nomics and Sciences has organised ten days of training for its final year humanities students. The purpose of this training was to instruct its young students from the Agronomics and departments on how to drive and handle machines with telescopic arms. In the train- ing module planned by the school, a whole section was devot- ed to driving articulated vehicles. BIA quite naturally obtained a Komatsu articulated loader (WA250PZ-6) for them. By lend- ing them that loader, BIA contributed to the instruction of 85 trainees. Our company also allowed them to test the handling of an articulated loader in a real work situation. At the end of the course, the trainees were evaluated with a view to obtaining their permits.
