The Dark Side of the Self Delena Waters October 24th • 2:00pm Auditorium Unknown: Part I The Dark Side of the Self Unknown series is structured in a way such that each part can be experienced as its own complete course and does not necessitate attendance to all parts.

In this first part of the series, we examine what is commonly known in analytical psychology as the shadow, which is comprised of the aspects of oneself that an individual rejects in order to cope with one’s own fallibility and uncertainty. By denying or repressing these ever-present parts of ourselves, they remain unconscious but are made manifest against our will, thereby stifling our opportunities for personal growth. Wild, Wacky, Weird, Wonderful, One-of-a- Joy Katzen-Guthrie October 25th • 2:00pm Auditorium Kind Jonathan Winters This is a man who, when given a simple prop like a stick, could present a freestyle improvisation in which the stick became a fishing rod, spear, giant beetle antenna, hatchet, and Bing Crosby's golf club. Every transformation—vocally, visually, and textually—was brilliant, all from the spontaneous top of Jonathan Winters' zany mind. They nursed over 3000 civilian patients in the large prison camp of San Tomas University of Manila. Dachau Concentration Suzanne Burtzlaff November 7th • 2:00pm Auditorium Camp Join Suzanne as she shares the history and her recent visit to Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. Established in March 1933, the Dachau concentration camp was the first regular concentration camp established by the Nazis in Germany. During the first year, the camp held about 4,800 prisoners and by 1937 the number had risen to 13,260. The number of Jewish prisoners at Dachau rose with the increased persecution of Jews and on November 10-11, 1938, in the aftermath of Kristallnacht, more than 10,000 Jewish men were interned there. “Never Again” is one of the memorials at the camp today and it is mandatory that all German students, military and government workers study WWII, The Holocaust, and visit a concentration camp so this can never happen again.

Bayada’s Dementia Specialty Program / Bayada Chris Ashton, RN Wellness Talk Chris Ashton was born in Rochester, PA and earned his nursing degree from the Community College of Beaver County. Chris began working with Bayada as a home health nurse in September 2015, and was promoted to the role of Clinical Manager shortly thereafter. As a Clinical Manager, Chris oversees the delivery of clinical care and ensures that our clients are 100% satisfied with our services. June Bailey Shells in Medicine

June was born in Akron, Ohio but grew up in Washington, D.C. where she attended American University. She married Army Lt. Roy Bailey, a fifth generation Floridian and together they raised one daughter and three sons. Much to June’s delight, they retired to Sanibel Island, Fl. She became enamored of sea shells, and began collecting them on trips all over the world. She has won many trophies and ribbons for her exhibits and has judged most of the shell shows held in Florida. Some of her collection has been donated to the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum on Sanibel and to the Mote Marine Science Center in Sarasota. The shells she has kept are lovingly displayed in her apartment at the Fountains, and she likes nothing better than sharing their beauty with others. Another activity she enjoys is designing jewelry and other crafts from shells and found objects.

Advancements in Outpatient Hip & Knee Philip “Flip” Clifford, MD, AAHKS, AAOS Replacement Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon Born in New Jersey, from Vermont natives, Dr. Clifford went to middle and high school in the Tampa Bay area. He attended Davidson College in North Carolina, and then Medical School at the University of Florida. John Comer Painting 101

John was born in 1964 in Rising Sun, MD. He is a self-taught artist whose life began with a pencil in his hand. His love for drawing had his mother performing the nightly task of removing all pencils and pens in fear that even the sheets would fall victim to his sketching. In 1982 at the age of 18, John moved to Florida, and began his professional career as an artist for a silk-screen company. Working there he found his true love was for painting. With his unique use of color and contrast, John quickly made himself known around the artist based Nature Coast of Florida. His work has been exhibited in art galleries and festivals throughout Florida for more than two decades. His murals can be seen throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Dorothy is the daughter of Dr. William & Violet Hughlett, missionaries to the former Belgian Congo, in the middle of Africa, where she was born. She graduated from Asbury College in 1955 and went on to complete a major in Christian Education ad then Elementary Education. She spent a total of 14 years in Africa and went on to work in the Florida school system for 31 years in addition to teaching in Africa for two years. Katherine began her meditation journey back in 2008 after spending many years looking outside of herself for answers and fulfillment. She began a meditation practice and found it to be an incredibly fulfilling experience that allowed her to retrain her mind to be more focused, balanced and compassionate. She found she was able to be more aligned with her values which opened up an opportunity to form a deeper relationship with herself. After spending many months breathing deeper, following mantras and tuning into her power within, she experienced many positive changes in her life and she realized the true connection she had been searching for was within herself. She also experienced incredible stress relief and was able to greatly reduce her level of tension and anxiety. She began teaching classes and leading workshops and knew that she had found her passion spreading knowledge and creating peaceful and healing spaces for people to do this kind of work. Katherine majored in Psychology & Anthropology at the University of Vermont. She has also done graduate training in mental health counseling and is certified by the McLean Meditation Institute, which has allowed her to deepen her studies in the art of meditation and relaxation. Her passions are teaching meditation, exploring the healing vibrations of sound and motivating and inspiring others to be the best that they can be. She has also been certified as a trained facilitator of group empowerment drumming through Remo Drum Corporation and enjoys facilitating drum circles in order to connect people on a deeper level.
