RNS have told Swapol about level of intimidation in north Expressive Mr Samkhao Homa, Farmers Cooperative Chairman, pictured by Rajah Munamava.

THE United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Namibia has relayed to the SW A Police its concern at the level of intimidation in the north, Mr Nicolas Bwakira said on Friday. The local head of the UNHCR was speaking at a press conference following a two-day visit to Oshakati and Ondangua. He said that he had been told during discussions with $wapol that the police DEPRIVED usually had 800 men deployed in the north each day and that these men nonnally carried out 2} patrols a day in teams of three Casspirs. Mr Bwakira conflrmed that members of the police were visiting homes to ask families whether they were expecting any returned exiles. Fifty percent of the returnees at the reception centers in the north had left the camps for their homes, but the rate of departure was decreasing because of the fear of intimidation. GROUP He expressed concern about the reluctance of returnees at the Dobra and Okahandja to leave the reception centres because these camps were becoming overcrowded. Towards the end of last week there were 1 500 returnees at the Okahandja reception center while Dobra at there were 2 069. Ninety more returnees were expected at Dobra on Friday which meant that there would be 159 more people there than the camp had been planned to hold. Mr Bwakira said that returnees were only meant to stay at the reception SPEA centres for seven days but there were still people at Dobra who had been there since the flTSt day ofrepatriation 14 days ago today. . WORLD CUP NOT AN "OPEN HOUSE" SAY OFFICIALS

ITAUAN officials on Friday strongly denied British press reports that the 1990 World, Cup would be an " open house" for English soccer hooligans, They said strict controls and identity checks had been agreed with the English Football Association (F,A.) to prevent known hooligans from obtain ing tickets for the competition. The officials were reacting to a report in a London newspaper which said tickets would be sold indiscriminately to any fans with the money to buy them, Gian Paolo Segala, a spokesman for the World Cup organising committee Italy 90, said all people buying tickets in Italy (only allowed through BNL, the biggest state bank) have to show identity documents, They would then be given vouchers to be exchanged for tickets next May, allowing time for police checks, CELTIC HOLD lEADERS TO A DRAW
