Atelier of Felix LECOMTE (1737-1817) 19th century Bust of Marie Antoinette in Biscuit porcelain - The work is completed by a wooden column worked with an imitation Carrara marble finish- BUST dimensions: H. 70 cm Column dimensions: H = 110 , Base 42X42 cm Total H = 180 cm Félix Lecomte Pupil of Étienne Maurice Falconet, he continued his artistic training in Rome, attenuating the influences of his teacher. It is known for its busts of Fénelon and Marie Antoinette (preserved in Versailles), characterized by a taste halfway between the courtly and the classical style. His style represented a fusion between that of Louis XV and that of Louis XVI, which will lead into neoclassicism. The original of this bust was made in 1783 and presented today in the Queen's Chamber at Versailles, it takes up the image of the queen popularized by Boizot.
