After technical analysis and extensive community input, the study yielded two “build” alternatives which regional connector improves ridership utilize LRT technology as well as two required alternatives. In early 2009, these four alternatives were authorized by Gold Line (Pico/Aliso Station to Atlantic Station) 18.4% the Metro Board of Directors for further study in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Report (Draft EIS/EIR). Gold Line Eastside Extension Phase 2 11.6% During this environmental phase, the Metro Board added a fifth alternative in response to community input. Gold Line 10.0% The alternatives currently under analysis in the Draft (Chinatown Station to Sierra Madre Villa Station) EIS/EIR include: Blue Line ( to Long Beach) 10.9% > Fully Underground LRT Expo Line (Pico Station to Santa Monica) 4.7% > At-Grade Emphasis LRT

> Underground Emphasis LRT

> No Build

> Transportation System Management (TSM)

All these alternatives will receive in-depth technical analysis during the Draft EIS/EIR process.

Project Development Process

The project development process is well defined by federal and state environmental requirements. The Regional Connector is currently in the Draft EIS/EIR phase. The following flow diagram charts the major milestones in the process, including its status at present.
