Job Title: Food Coordinator/Outreach Location: Staten Island, NY FLSA Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt Classification: Administrative Support Worker Department: Community Outreach Services Program/Contract: Feeding Our Neighbors Reports to: Program Manager Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes ☒ No ☐

Summary: the Food Pantry Coordinator is part of the Feed Our Neighbors Department, will be responsible for the coordination of the food pantry services, and will oversee the supervision of volunteers. In addition, the Coordinator/Outreach/ Social Service Information will ensure that all clients that come for food pantry also have access to a broad range of social services provided through Catholic Charities of Staten Island. There will be need to conduct community outreach and develop collaborative relationships with the leadership of Catholic Charities of Staten Island (CC SI) and the staff of FON Mobil Pantry offered by Catholic Charities of Archdiocese of New York, along with local community organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Oversees all aspects of the operations of the Mobile Pantry Program and support the Staten Island pantry on Anderson Avenue.  Orders food for pantry, monitors nutritional content, tracks inventory, and receives weekly deliveries, keep budget for foods ordered, mail invoices to FON for food orders, and other statistic details.  Have good supportive supervision skills for the Pantry Aide, and both reporting to Program Manager as well as FON Director.  Ensures food pantry, office space, storage , etc. are all clean and well organized  Complies with NYC and NYS food safety/food handling guidelines.  Monitors annual program spending allocation as instructed by Program Manager  Ensures that all clients are properly registered.  Work closely with FON staff, Program Managers, Directors and other to provide quality service, alongside collaborate to support the CC SI staff as needed.  Oversees volunteers to ensure proper execution of tasks and customer service  Attend to morale and develops team- strategies.  Manages client data input and provides monthly statistics report to Program Manager  Participates in supervision and monthly staff meetings, FON training, and other agency-related activities.  Willing to travel in order to assist as needed at all FON sites located in Manhattan, Staten Island, and the Bronx.  Provide support with other department initiatives, special events including parish and community outreach in Staten Island, as well as participate to collaborate with the Hunger Task Force Team for Staten Island.  Serve as an alternate driver for Food Hub or mobile food program on Staten Island, when Pantry Aide is unable to do so.  Comply with all other requests and tasks as assigned by the Program Manager or FON Director.  Support Pantry Aide with monitoring van, bring it in for required serving, maintain all service records and licensing.  Collaborate with CC SI staff regarding additional services, as SNAP, housing assistance and immigration services.  Provide outreach to the neighboring areas of Staten Island for additional locations for Mobil pantry and complete collaboration with parishes and staff to provide Mobil pantry services.  Offer all clients information about alternative social services and attend meetings with CC Case management for up to date details regarding local events and social services being offered in Staten Island.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 8:00 AM to 4 PM Monday - Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet the program deadlines, or client needs. Traveling to Bronx maybe requested as needed for support to Feeding Our Neighbors staff. Must be willing to include occasional weeknights 4-7 pm, and weekend dates as needed for FON events in the Bronx and/or Manhattan.

 May need to travel to various neighborhoods that may require a high level of alertness and awareness of surroundings.  Work with clients who require consistent and comprehensive support, some under potentially stressful conditions. Offer clients at pantry information regarding social service in the area 20 %  Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer approximately 30% of the time.  Assist with moving boxes, packing and carry food pantry bags, approximately 30% of the time.  Collaboration with staff for both CC Feeding our Neighbors and SI Catholic Charities through meetings and program outreach along with parishes and agencies, 20%  Ability to drive van or box truck

Qualifications

Education and/or experience required:

 Have 2 years' college degree or more.  Have professional experience in the social services field or emergency food sector  Understanding with the needs of low-income families and comfortable working in a diverse setting, a must  Willing to traveling in all four seasons, a must  Bilingual, Spanish-English a plus  Knowledge of NY Grant writing a plus  Familiarity with Catholic social teachings and parish structure, a plus

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

 Excellent interpersonal skills, a must  Computer skills, a must  Knowledge of human services sector and/or emergency food sector  Excellent organizational, time-management and communication skills  The ability to work well independently and as part of a team  Valid Driver's License and a clean record
