LAST GAME - Oct. 5 (Minnesota 2 at Colorado 4) The Avs beat the 4-2 at Pepsi Center. Mikko Rantanen, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan Graves scored for the Avs, who got 29 saves from Philipp Grubauer.

TONIGHT The Colorado Avalanche continues its season-opening, four-game homestand tonight against the Boston Bruins at Pepsi Center. The Avs began the 2019-20 campaign with a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames last Thursday, followed by a 4-2 victory over the Wild on Saturday. Colorado will wrap up the homestand on Saturday night against Arizona. The Avs are beginning their 24th season in Denver and their 40th season as a franchise (including 16 years in Quebec). This is Colorado's 20th season here at Pepsi Center.

AIMING FOR 3-0 The Avs are looking to start a season 3-0-0 for just the second time since relocating to Denver, as the 2013-14 club opened that year 6- 0-0. Overall, the Avs are aiming to win their first three games of a season for the sixth time in franchise history. The Nordiques started 7-0-0 in 1985-86, 3-0-0 in 1987-88, 4-0-0 in 1992-93 and 5-0-0 in 1994-95.

MAKING EACH PERIOD COUNT The Avalanche has scored at least one goal in all six periods this season, the second straight year that Colorado has opened a season by scoring in each of its first six periods. Prior to last year, only one other time in Avalanche history (since 1995-96) had the club scored in each of its first six periods, 2013-14. No Avalanche club has ever opened a season by scoring in each of its first seven periods. Quebec scored in its first seven or more periods on four different occasions.

MAKAR FOR MORE HISTORY With a goal or an assist tonight, Cale Makar would become only the third defenseman in franchise history to tally points in each of his first three career regular-season games. Stefan Elliott opened his career with a three-game point streak from Nov. 26-30, 2011 and Quebec's Dave Pichette also had points in his first three contests from Dec. 7-11, 1980. Makar, who joined the team during their first round series against Calgary last spring, was the first defenseman in league history to score a goal while making his NHL debut in the Playoffs.

NOT FALLING BEHIND The Avs did not trail during their first two games, as they led 67.5% of the time and were tied 32.5%.

Lead: 81:01 Behind: 0:00 Tied: 38:59

HIGHER POWER Colorado's power play is 3-for-12 (25%) in the early going. The Avs were seventh in the NHL at 22.0% (63-286) last season, the club’s second straight top-10 finish after ranking eighth the year before (22.0%, 65-296). It was the first time in 13 years that the PP unit has finished among the top 10 in back-to-back seasons. Mikko Rantanen has scored a power-play goal in each of the first two games thus far. No Avalanche player has ever tallied a man-advantage goal in the team's first three games of a season. One Nordiques player accomplished the feat, Michel Goulet, in 1987-88.
