Vizag Chapter

Located in the east coast of in the southern provincial state of , the coastal city of is the largest city in the state. The city serves as the headquarters of the (ENC), has the fifth busiest port in India in terms of cargo handled, has the Visakhapatnam steel plant, refineries, the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), has the only submarine museum in the entire South Asia, and houses the only natural harbour in the east coast of India.

Brief bio-data of Mrs. G.Padmaja, Regional Director, Visakhapatnam Chapter

Mrs.G.Padmaja had her entire education - schooling, college and university - in New . Having graduated in Political Science from Delhi University, she did her M.A in International Relations and M.Phil in South Asian Studies from the School of International Studies (SIS), University (JNU), and .

She has been a Fellow at the Institute for Defiance Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi. She has also been a Visiting Research Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament and Research (UNIDIR), Geneva, Switzerland.

She writes extensively on maritime issues; and the political and economic factors effecting regional cooperation in South Asia. She contributes research papers to journals and books. She is the author of the book - Managing Suspicions, Understanding India’s Relations with Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka.

She is presently based in Visakhapatnam. 13
