Seven taxa of the genus Psathyrella (Fr.) Quél. s.l., collected in the Iberian Peninsula, are macro- and microscopically described and iconographied: Co- prinopsis marcescibilis (Britzelm.) Örstadius & E. Larss., Parasola conopilus (Fr. : Fr.) Örstadius & E. Larss., P. cernua (Vahl : Fr.) M. Lange, P. effibulata Örstadius & E. Ludw., P. gossypina (Bull. : Fr.) A. Pearson & Dennis, P. multipedata (Peck) A.H. Sm. y P. vinosofulva P.D. Orton. Of them, P. effibulata and P. vinosofulva have not been recorded previously in the Peninsula.     A PRELIMINARY CHECKLIST OF ARIZONA MACROFUNGI Scott T. Bates School of Life Sciences Arizona State University PO Box 874601 Tempe, AZ 85287-4601 ABSTRACT A checklist of 1290 species of nonlichenized ascomycetaceous, basidiomycetaceous, and zygomycetaceous macrofungi is presented for the state of Arizona. The checklist was compiled from records of Arizona fungi in scientific publications or herbarium databases. Additional records were obtained from a physical search of herbarium specimens in the University of Arizona’s Robert L. Gilbertson Mycological Herbarium and of the author’s personal herbarium. This publication represents the first comprehensive checklist of macrofungi for Arizona. In all probability, the checklist is far from complete as new species await discovery and some of the species listed are in need of taxonomic revision. The data presented here serve as a baseline for future studies related to fungal biodiversity in Arizona and can contribute to state or national inventories of biota. INTRODUCTION Arizona is a state noted for the diversity of its biotic communities (Brown 1994). Boreal forests found at high altitudes, the ‘Sky Islands’ prevalent in the southern parts of the state, and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa P.& C. Lawson) forests that are widespread in Arizona, all provide rich habitats that sustain numerous species of macrofungi. Even xeric biomes, such as desertscrub and semidesert- grasslands, support a unique mycota, which include rare species such as Itajahya galericulata A. Møller (Long & Stouffer 1943b, Fig. 2c). Although checklists for some groups of fungi present in the state have been published previously (e.g., Gilbertson & Budington 1970, Gilbertson et al. 1974, Gilbertson & Bigelow 1998, Fogel & States 2002), this checklist represents the first comprehensive listing of all macrofungi in the kingdom Eumycota (Fungi) that are known from Arizona.

Nagy1, S. Kocsubé1, T. Papp1, C. Vágvölgyi1 Key words Abstract Phylogenetic relationships, species concepts and morphological evolution of the coprinoid mushroom genus Parasola were studied. A combined dataset of nuclear ribosomal ITS and LSU sequences was used to infer Agaricales phylogenetic relationships of Parasola species and several outgroup taxa. Clades recovered in the phylogenetic Coprinus section Glabri analyses corresponded well to morphologically discernable species, although in the case of P. leiocephala, P. lila- deliquescence tincta and P. plicatilis amended concepts proved necessary. Parasola galericuliformis and P. hemerobia are shown gap coding to be synonymous with P. leiocephala and P. plicatilis, respectively. By mapping morphological characters on the morphological traits phylogeny, it is shown that the emergence of deliquescent Parasola taxa was accompanied by the development Psathyrella of pleurocystidia, brachybasidia and a plicate pileus. Spore shape and the position of the germ pore on the spores species concept showed definite evolutionary trends within the group: from ellipsoid the former becomes more voluminous and heart- shaped, the latter evolves from central to eccentric in taxa referred to as ‘crown’ Parasola species. The results are discussed and compared to other Coprinus s.l. and Psathyrella taxa. Homoplasy and phylogenetic significance of various morphological characters, as well as indels in ITS and LSU sequences, are also evaluated. Studies in Fungi 2(1), 47–58, Doi 10.5943/sif/2/1/6 Abstract Fungi are one of the most species-rich and diverse groups of organisms on Earth, with forests ecosystems being the main habitats for macro-fungi. The Kilum-Ijim forest in Cameroon is a community forest populated by several species of plant and animal life forms; although macro-fungi are exploited for food and medicine, their diversity has not been documented in this ecosystem. Since anthropogenic impact on this forest may cause decline of macro-fungal diversity or extinction of known and previously undiscovered species, it is imperative to generate a checklist of the existing macro-fungi for use in the implementation of sustainable conservation and management practices. This study was therefore carried out to generate information on macro-fungal diversity in this forest.

The taxa represent 48 genera and 28 families, with taxa in Russulaceae, Agaricaceae, Amanitaceae, Inocybaceae, and Psathyrellaceae comprising 48.8% of the total collected. The food and medicinal potentials of the taxa are indicated. KEY WORDS—Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, natural resources Introduction Yushan (31°39¢N 120°40¢E) lies northwest of Changshu city, Jiangsu province. The mountain, which runs northwest to southeast at 263 m altitude with undulating peaks, covers 35 km2 area south of the Yangtze River and north of Shanghu Lake and is designated a national 4A scenic spot. It has a mild subtropical monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. Yushan has a complex topography and lush vegetation, providing good conditions for the growth and reproduction of macrofungi. Macrofungi have become the focus of attention of researchers at home and abroad because of their value in food, decoration, and medical fields (Gao & al. 2016; Feng & al. 2016, Xu & al. 2015, Cao & al. 2012, Cupul & al. 2014, Yilmaz & Zencirci 2016, Gambato & al. 2016). In recent years, the research of mushroom diversity in our country is becoming more popular (Bau & al. 2012, Si & Dai 2016). However, there are few reports of fungal resources in southern Jiangsu (Xu & al. 2017) and a large number of macrofungal resources are yet to be discovered and developed.

Miller--Eastside Ecosystem Management Project--l, Biogeography of taxonomic group Macrofungi found within the boundaries of the Eastside Ecosystem Management Project (EEMP) include three major subdivisions--Basidiomycotina, Ascomycotma and Zygomycotina. The subdivision Basidiomycotina. commonly known as the “Basidiomycetes”, include approximately 15,000 or more species. Fungi such as mushrooms, puffballs and polypores are some of the more commonly known and observed forms. Other forms which include the jelly fungi, birds nest fungi, and tooth fungi are also members of the Basidiomycetes. The majority of the Basidiomycetes are either saprouophs on decaying wood and other dead plant material, or are symbiotic with the living cells of plant roots, forming mycorrhizal associations with trees and shrubs. Others are parasites on living plants or fungi. Basidiomycotina are distributed worldwide. The Ascomycotina is the largest subdivision of true fungi, comprised of over 2000 genera. The “Ascomycetes”, as they are commonly referred to, include a wide range of diverse organisms such as yeasts, powdery mildews, cup fungi and truffles. The Ascomycetes are primarily terrestrial, although many live in fresh or marine waters. The majority of these fungi are saprotrophs on decaying plant debris. lMany sapronophic Ascomycetes specialize in decomposing certain host species or even are restricted to a particular part of the host such as leaves or petioles.
