S ituation The Old Vicarage is situated very close to Dartington and within a short drive or cycle of Totnes. Dartington is a sought after location famous for its promotion of the arts centred at .

Totnes, close by, is an ancient market town and river port in the area of South Devon. The busy, narrow streets, dominated by castle and church tower are full of architectural and historic interest, whilst the green horizon is always visible just beyond the houses.

Excellent communications links via road or rail. The A38 connects to Plymouth, Exeter, Newton Abbot and Torbay are a short drive away. The local railway station is on the Penzance to Paddington.

Dartington has the famous Cott Inn, petrol station, post office and village stores together with the primary school and Cider Press Centre. More extensive facilities are at neaby eclectic Totnes including banks and larger supermarkets. There is an impressive range of places to eat and many independent and individual shops too.

The Steiner School is just outside Dartington, there is a primary school in the village and secondary education in Totnes.

You can take a public or private boat from Totnes down to Dartmouth along the , arguable one of the prettiest estuaries in the country with numerous places to stop and eat. It was famously the home of Agatha Christie and her former house is now in National Trust ownership.
