Please note that the gradebook in MySpanishLab only calculates the average for SAM exercises. Therefore, for most students, the grade you see there will be significantly higher that your actual average. Actual course averages will always be available to you through the My‐GCC gradebook.

Assignments and Exams

Assignments are due by midnight EST on the scheduled due date. Because this is an online course, the material is available to you 24/7, 365 days a year. As such, I will not accept any late assignments. Please do not wait until the last minute to complete your work! If there is a problem with MySpanishLab, I will ask you to provide a reference I.D. so that I know you first spoke with a Pearson technical support provider to try and resolve the problem.

Miscellaneous/Additional Course Information:

1. Taking a Spanish course online is a unique experience. Please let me know how I can help!

2. Please use a proper salutation and closing, including your name in all email communication.

3. Asking native speakers to do your work for you, using a translator to do all/most of your work and copying answers from someone’s paper is considered cheating. A grade of “F” will be assigned for all work that’s not yours.

4. I’m learning standard Spanish and understand that there are different dialects‐‐‐ which means that there may be more than one way to say something.

5. In an online Spanish course, students will not receive as much speaking and listening practice as they would in a traditional face to face classroom. It is the students’ responsibility to seek outside assistance when necessary.

6. Everyone learns differently in this course and some students may have taken this course before. If you’re having a challenging time with the material, please be open to requesting additional help from your instructor.

7. It’s a good idea to check both your GCC and MSL e‐mail accounts daily. Also, please review announcements posted on MSL each time you log in.

8. Makeup work is not permitted in this course. Tests and quizzes are given on selected days. Tests will be available for a minimum of 72 hours.

9. The access code is required for this course. Unfortunately, “trial” access codes are not available.

10. Please refer to the course calendar if you have questions regarding test dates or homework.

11. Your instructor uses My‐GCC to post grades. Individual grades and current course average are always available to you through that portal. Your grade displayed in MSL is only representative of the average score of your SAM activities.

12. Extra credit is not awarded in this course.
