7/8/2014 Purity Vodka Banks on Some Comic Timing - NYTimes.com http://nyti.ms/1mwRWmj BUSINESS DAY Purity Vodka Banks on Some Comic Timing JULY 8, 2014 Advertising By STUART ELLIOTT A SMALL brand of Swedish vodka seeking to become better known is turning to an American comedian with a big following for an online video series that will use humor to get noticed and shared. The vodka is Purity and the comedian is Joel McHale, familiar from his work on “The Soup” on the E! cable channel as well as the comedy series “Community,” which the Yahoo Screen streaming-video service agreed last week to pick up for at least one more round of 13 episodes after NBC canceled the show. The fact that Mr. McHale’s videos for Purity will be online, on the brand’s YouTube channel, as “Community” moves to streaming video from television is a coincidence. He does, however, have extensive experience in online video, as evidenced by the clips he creates for “The Soup” that can be watched on their own YouTube channel. His most recent clip, uploaded last week, offers a wicked spoof of the Jerry Seinfeld web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”; in Mr. McHale’s version, the stimulative substance sought by the comedians offers a kick more powerful — and illegal — than the buzz from caffeine. The videos for Purity featuring Mr. McHale — there are to be three initially, under the umbrella title of “Crafted Spirits,” with a possibility of http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/09/business/purity-vodka-banks-on-some-comic-timing.html?ref=business&_r=0 1/3 7/8/2014 Purity Vodka Banks on Some Comic Timing - NYTimes.com more next year — also serve as a showcase for his sardonic style of humor.

  • To Our Valued Arcata Community Pool (ACP) Season Pass Holders
To Our Valued Arcata Community Pool (ACP) Season Pass Holders We closed the pool on November 17 as California slipped into the red and then the purple tier designations for COVID spread. These tiers mandated that indoor pools be closed for public use. Humboldt County progressed to the orange tier on April 6th which finally allows facilities such as ours to reopen! The approved Operational Plan has allowed the pool to reopen, but it also has a number of restrictions in place to promote a safe environment for customers and staff. Limited numbers of people in the facility, restrictions on group use, enhanced cleaning procedures are all examples of these restrictions. Aspects of these social distancing measures, additional operational costs and the nearly five‐month closure has created significant operational and financial challenges for the pool. For Season Pass holders we welcome you back to the pool and would like to inform you on how we are going to work with annual passes going forward. For 2020 Passes: 1. We will calculate a credit or a refund, based on you time lost during the most recent closure. This amount will include all days starting on the closure date in November up to the date the pass would have expired in 2021 2. You have three options for this amount. a. We can issue you a credit towards a new 2021 pass. b. A refund can be issued. Once requested a check will be sent to your physical address. This will take up to three weeks to process. c. You can donate this amount if you would like to help the pool through this unprecedented financial challenge.

While growing into his new role, the shy and effeminate Ulysses is also dealing with questions about his gender identity. He finds an escape by creating a world of fantasy for himself, filled with glimpses of beauty, dance and music. Ulysses’ journey takes a turn when he encounters a vibrant transgender community, who take him to “Saturday Church,’ a program for LGBTQ youth. For weeks Ulysses manages to keep his two worlds apart; appeasing his Aunt’s desire to see him involved in her Church, while spending time with his new friends, finding out who he truly is and discovering his passion for the NYC ball scene and voguing. When maintaining a double life grows more difficult, Ulysses must find the courage to reveal what he has learned about himself while his fantasies begin to merge with his reality. *** DAMON CARDASIS, DIRECTOR STATEMENT My mother is an Episcopal Priest in The Bronx.
