High risk drinking is assessed by measuring how many units the respondent consumed in the week. A weekly consumption which puts a person at high risk of physical or mental harm is defined as high risk drinking. A weekly consumption below that level, but still increasing the risk of ill effect is defined as increasing risk drinking. Higher risk drinking is defined as regularly drinking more than 50 units a week if you're a man and 35 units a week for a woman. The Adult Lifestyle Survey used the seven question version of the WEMWBS (Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale) tool in order to assess positive mental wellbeing. To assess the wellbeing scores, each of the seven questions needs to be answered. Scores were categorised as above average, average and below average mental wellbeing by using a statistical measure of two standard deviations from the mean. Deprivation Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2007

The Index of Multiple Deprivation 2007 measures deprivation at the Lower Super Output Area (LSOA), of

Downloaded on 22 January 2016 from http://www.mystockport.org.uk/areasummary.aspx?rc=343797&r=368718 Page 11 / 15 which there are 32,482 in England and 190 in Stockport. The overall index of multiple deprivation is a weighted average of seven domains : • Income; • Employment; • Health Deprivation and Disability; • Education Skills and Training; • Barriers to Housing and Services; • Crime; and • Living Environment.

Once a score has been assigned to each LSOA they can then be ranked nationally and separated into quintiles. The data in this profile has been aggregated to show percentages at ward level. The percentages have been calculated using GP Registration population data as at December 2012. The lowest 20% of scores are described as the most deprived quintile and the 20% highest scores are categorised as the least deprived quintile.

IMD 2007 data is considered a more accurate assessment of deprivation in Stockport than the 2010 IMD data.

The dimensions of deprivation used to classify households are indicators based on the four selected household characteristics:

l Employment (any member of a household not a full-time student is either unemployed or long-term sick)

l Education (no person in the household has at least level 2 education, and no person aged 16-18 is a full- time student)

l Health and disability (any person in the household has general health ‘bad or very bad’ or has a long term health problem), and

Downloaded on 22 January 2016 from http://www.mystockport.org.uk/areasummary.aspx?rc=343797&r=368718 Page 13 / 15 l Housing (Household's accommodation is ether overcrowded, with an occupancy rating -1 or less, or is in a shared dwelling, or has no central heating).

A household is classified as being deprived in none, or one to four of these dimensions in any combination. Households Deprived in 3 Dimensions
