Property Consultants who are the Council’s Estates and Asset Management Advisors. 2.0 BACKGROUND 2.1 Location and Context (Plan1) This is a prominent site located on Gorton Road, 0.5 Km from Houldsworth Square and 1km from North Reddish Local Centre, and comprises 3 buildings plus an outbuilding with separate uses. The site is bounded by: to the north: by Spencer Street to the east: by unnamed passageway between Spencer Street and Melbourne Street to the south: by Melbourne Street to the west: by Gorton Road. 2.2 Opportunities This prominent group of civic buildings has significant townscape value: their public frontage to Gorton Road represents a local landmark and contributes positively to the quality and appearance of this part of Reddish, an area of predominantly residential housing that developed in the mid-late 19th century to serve local industries. 2 The group has a fine and imposing frontage, largely unaltered from its original design and external appearance.
