TRINITY IN ONE: ONE IN TRINITY The celebration of God as Trinity also reveals to us the true nature of God and the true mean- ing at the heart of the universe….Communion & Unity. The world cries out and hungers and thirsts for that which God has in God's own inner nature! invites us to share in and par- ticipate in this wonderful relationship with God and with one another. It makes us more gener- ous, sharing, community focused, serving and sacrificing, more loving… that is at the heart of the discipleship into which Christ calls us. If we look at what Jesus hungered for and what he did not hunger for, it is very revealing. He did not hunger for money; he warned us to be very wary of its hollow charms, as we cannot serve both God and wealth. He did not hunger for popularity. In fact, by the end of his earthly life he was reviled, abandoned and condemned. The popularity contest was shockingly won by a thief and murderer - Barabbas, who was re- leased instead of the innocent one!! The reveal so many more thirsts and hungers of Jesus and their polar opposites He longed to share with others. He thirsted for other's faith and participation. It breaks your heart doesn't it? Seeing so many people searching for some- thing that will truly satisfy their longings, and yet they go down paths that seem life-giving, seem attractive, but ultimately prove to be dead ends and unsatisfying. But does it stop us? No. We rush down the path of the next attractive glittering possibility, whether it be pursuit of money, power, influence, celebrity. So many things in this world and in this society cry out for our attention and invite us to get enmeshed in them. May the Spirit of truth guide us as we dis- cern, through the light of Jesus' words and actions, just what are the life-giving treasures to put all our heart and into. In so many ways, people have asked themselves "now that I am fol- lowing Jesus, what shall I DO in practical ways to make a difference?” God has answered their in many very satisfying ways that bring grace and benefit and service to so many... the list is wonderfully long… there is so much to do... and God is calling each one of us. Let us live as the Trinity, United as One in the Community of Faith. Fr. William. Parish and Community News

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP — RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS

. God Doesn’t Take a Break An acquaintance who works in church ministry once told me a story about one of the students she had in Faith Formation. This student informed my friend that his family doesn’t come to Mass in summer. “God takes a break in summer, and so do we,” he said. There’s a lot to unpack here. First, it’s tragic to think of anyone voluntarily missing out on the for so long. It’s also a real problem in the church today that a lot of our folks don’t un- derstand the beauty of the Sunday obligation. But if I had to dis- sect this situation and pinpoint the thing I find most troubling, it’s the idea of God taking a break. I hope it’s starting to look like summer where you are. We’ve still got a few weeks left before it’s official, but the school year should be winding up for most kids, the birds should be chirping a little louder, and hopefully your lawn is starting to green up nicely. You’re probably daydreaming about the annual cabin getaway weekend or waterskiing on the Fourth of July. All in all, summer is going to be a nice break, even if — like typi- cal Americans — our break is full of productive work. The office will be closed on Monday, Thank God — literally — that He doesn’t take a break, even if we do. Can we try to remember that, even in the midst of our many May 31st in observance of Memorial Day. wonderful distractions? Let’s enjoy this summer. Let’s live it to the full. But let’s see it for the gift that it is — and remember the thanks we owe the Giver. - Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

The immensity, scope, intimacy, and pervasiveness of God’s presence is too intense for the human mind. We often limit God by our expectations of Him and have a hard time just letting God be God. Some people all too easily lose faith because God does not meet their expec- tations. Worse still, the idea of faith is rejected altogether by others because of polarities and experiences they have Congratulations to the following young men and that don’t square with who they need God to be. The Holy women of our parish who received the of Trinity is one of those teachings that is best encountered on Friday, May 21st along with students rather than dissected. It is only through being present with from Our Lady of Loreto Church: the Trinity that we can experience both the immensity and otherness of God’s presence as well as the intimacy of the Abigail Ambos God who wants us to call Him “dad.” We feel the loving Tyler Doherty guidance of a God who wants to take us from fear and give us confidence.
