HIGHLIGHTS

Enjoy an overwhelming experience to the discover of the most beautiful panoramic routes of the northern Lazio, Tuscan Maremma and Elba Island at the wheel of classic spider or VW minivan. The vehicles available are Alfa Romeo model duetto '80s and Fiat 124 spider '70s and '80s, icons of Italian motoring. All vehicles, with displacement ranging from 1,400 c.c. to 2,000 c.c., are constantly overhauled and equipped with the necessary driverless rental licenses. They will travel in parade, radio-connected and assisted by a coordinator.

DAY 1: ROMA – CERI – MONTALCINO 220 km

Departure early in the morning, after a breakfast in which the coordinator will briefly explain the route, the dynamics of the journey and all the essential information for an easy start. First, we stop for a short walk in Ceri, a small village of the Lazio countryside that is entirely dug into the tufa rock. Then we leave Ceri and, following the Cassia SS2 to cross Viterbo, we reach Montefiascone for a light lunch. Back on the road, we head towards the beautiful medieval town of Montalcino for a walkthrough with a local guide. Dinner served with a good Brunello wine and overnight stay in farmhouse.

DAY 2: MONTALCINO - FIRENZE 123 km

After breakfast we continue driving along the SS2 Cassia to cover the most beautiful part of the itinerary. First stop is in Siena, for an essential tour of the historic centre and a visit to the headquarter of the “contrada della Lupa”. We will look closely at photos, films and trophies from the Palio to get a better understanding of the contrada members’ pride. Then we will drive to the small village of Monteriggioni for a walk into its fortified walls and a lunch in a typical trattoria. Afterwards we make our way to Firenze crossing the heart of Chianti. After having stored the luggage in a farmhouse on the outskirts of town, we will reach the historic centre and have some free time to visit the city. Dinner and overnight stay in farmhouse.

DAY 3: FIRENZE - VOLTERRA - LIVORNO 168 km

After breakfast we get ready to engage an intense morning of driving through the winding roads of the Pisan hills. First stop in San Gimignano for a walkthrough across the imposing medieval towers of the borough. Then we will move towards Volterra for a walk in its historic centre and a light lunch. Last destination of the day is Livorno, a harbour city well- known for its historic centre named "La Venezia" because of its water canals. We will dine in a typical seafood trattoria and spend the night in a B&B in the centre.

DAY 4: LIVORNO - PORTOFERRAIO 204 km

Departure early in the morning from Livorno, then through the SS1 Aurelia we will get at the port of Piombino to board the ferry to Portoferraio. Once we disembark we’ll have a light lunch before leaving for the tour of the island. We will stop in panoramic spots to take photos and dive into crystal waters bays. We get back to Portoferraio for dinner and overnight stay in B&B.

DAY 5: PORTOFERRAIO - SANT’ANGELO 240 km

We get back to Piombino in the morning and continue our journey across the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. First stop for a light lunch in Tirli, a small typical hillside village. We continue the drive towards Saturnia for a restful swim in the sulphurous waters. Departing from Saturnia we cross Tuscia heading Sant'Angelo, renamed "Town of Fairy Tales" because of its numerous colorful murals. Dinner in a country house with typical local products. Overnight stay in a B&B or in Castle Costaguti.

DAY 6: SANT’ANGELO - ROMA 156 km

Wake up at dawn for an unusual experience such as truffle hunting. If we are lucky we may have lunch with a truffle menu. Back to Rome in the afternoon with an optional stop at the necropolis of Tarquinia. Return to the garage and end of the tour. RATES
