THE ISLAND OF ELBA AND THE ELECTRIC MOBILITY
In the Island of Elba interest on e-mobility is gradually increasing.
More and more hotels and rental operators are experimenting the potential of e-mobility, indeed, providing to their customers electric vehicles and ELB recharging infrastructures. 2.1 E-mobility is being implemented also by several Town Councils on the Island, that are introducing about 50 recharging infrastructures in public areas, in cooperation wit the electricity board, Enel-X.
The common aim is the implementation of the citizens’ quality of life and the enhancing of the appeal of the Island for tourists, thanks to the decreasing of the noise and air pollution, so harmful for humans and environment.

TECHNICAL DETAILS ABOUT THE ENEL-X E-COLUMNS
The Enel-X charghing infrastructures on Elba are “quick” with IEC62196-2 type 2 charging socket; 22 kW, maximum power 32 A.
Charging time depends on the car battery; for an electric car with a capacity of 20 kWh the wait for a full tank of energy will be about 1 hour.
Easy recharging with the APP “Enel-X Recharge” or the linked card. But it will not be necessary to have signed a contract with Enel-X, because the columns are interoperable. For further information ask your operator or visit the website www.enelx.com.
HOW TO RECOGNIZE THE CHARGING COLUMNS
You can recognize the recharging stalls thanks to the presence of pictograms on the road surface, as in the image on the side.
The vertical signs indicate the destination of use of the stall, maximum duration permitted parking and other necessary information.
PARKING AND LTZ AREAS
According to the Law (Codice della Strada), parking or temporary stop is not allowed on a recharging stall, even for electric vehicles: they can be used only for charging purpose. Each Town Council can establish, with specific ordinances, a time limit for the stay; by now none of the Town Council of the Island of Elba did it.
There are no parking facilities for electric cars in public area: no dedicated stalls, no free parking areas.
In the municipalities of Elba, electric or hybrid cars are not automatically allowed to access to the LTZ. But a temporary permission can be requested in Portoferraio, Capoliveri and Marciana Marina. The permission is free and the release is immediate. To obtain the permission you have to go to the dedicated office in each municipality, with your ID card and the car registration document; by filling in a special form you will receive the permit quickly.
