Dall’alto del poggio e’ possibile abbracciare con un solo sguardo la Valle d’Oro. Esso ha all’incirca la forma di un triangolo, la cui base è rappresentata dai terreni impaludati che formano il prolungamento del lago di Burano verso Ansedonia, mentre i lati – piu’ o meno irregolari – sono costituiti da una serie di dolci rilievi collinosi che trovano il loro vertice in direzione del Monte Alzato. La Valle e’ oggi, e doveva essere anche in antico la pianura piu’ fertile dell’immediato retroterra della collina di Ansedonia. Allorquando (nel 273 a. C.) i romani fondarono su quella collina la colonia latina di Cosa, la Valle d’Oro entro’ a far parte del territorio della nuova citta’ e dovette essere divisa in piccoli lotti (probabilmente di un ettaro e mezzo di media) fra i primi coloni. L’indagine archeologica – tutt’ora in corso – ha rilevato tracce di insediamento deferibili al sistema di piccole fattorie unifamiliari che caratterizzo’ la proprieta’ e l’economia agricola del territorio per alcune generazioni fino a una data ancora imprecisata – ma da collocare certamente fra il II e la prima meta’ del I sec.

    Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 22 February 2017 The 2017 ERL Emergency Grand Challenge will be hosted in Piombino, Tuscany (Italy) on 15-23 September Following the success of euRathlon 2015, the European Robotics League has entrusted the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), based in La Spezia (Italy), with the organization of the 2017 event devoted to the field of robots as a first response in emergency situations. Dates and venue of the competition were announced on 22 February during a press conference held by CMRE and Municipality Less than 100 minutes, a race against the clock to survey the scene of a simulated disaster, collect environmental data, and identify critical hazards, find and help missing workers. This is a challenge that only ground, marine and aerial robots can tackle effectively by working together. And this is the challenge proposed by the international robotics competition which returns again this summer to Piombino (Italy) as part of the major tournament of the European Robotics League – Emergency Robots challenge. The ERL Emergency 2017 event will be locally organised on 15-23 September, near the Enel-owned thermal power plant at Torre del Sale, by the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), based in La Spezia (Italy), which masterminded the euRathlon project’s final competition in 2015 in the same venue. “We are glad to come back to Piombino in a location that has already proven to be perfectly suitable to host this kind of competition, inspired by the 2011 Fukushima accident”, says Gabriele Ferri, Technical Director. “Once again the town will be the international capital of robotics for a few days.

Iscritta all’Albo dei Giornalisti pubblicisti, ha collaborato in via continuativa con la RAI per il Gazzettino Toscano, con «Paese», «Paese Sera» e, occasionalmente, con altri quotidiani. Giunta a Punta Ala nell’estate del 1961 per un servizio giornalistico per conto di «Paese Sera», il 1° Febbraio 1962 accetta l’offerta della Punta Ala S.p.A. di restare con compiti di coordinamento vario e P.R. Può così vivere in prima persona tutte le vicende e gli avvenimenti progettuali, politici ed umani che hanno seguito la trasformazione di Punta Ala dalle sue origini agricole fino alla sua attuale realtà.
