November 24, 2019 Giving thanks.

A beautiful way to connect Thanksgiving with our faith is to look deeply into our Eucharistic feast. Eucharist literally means “thanksgiving.” This is the center of our faith. The highest point in our Mass is when the true presence, brings us into union with Christ. At this moment in the Mass we are giving the highest form of thanks to God. This holiday also allows us a chance to step back and give thanks to not only for the abundant harvest that we bring to our tables, but also the gifts we have been given through our families, friends, and our Church. This Thanksgiving may we recognize the love God has for each of us and be grateful for all the gifts He has given to all of us. Please join me at St. Cecilia to serve those who are not as fortunate. We will be delivering thanksgiving dinners, as well as feeding those in need in our Commons, starting at noon on Thanksgiving day. We also need turkeys cooked and dropped off on Wednesday evening. On behalf of Monsignor Lane, Fr. Jacob and myself, we want to wish everyone a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving!

This year the Feast of the is moved to December 9 and is not a holy day of obligation. However, there will be a special Mass to celebrate this feast at St. Cecilia at 7 PM on that day—Monday, Dec. 9.

The annual St. Cecilia Giving Tree program has begun! Select an ornament(s) from the tree and purchase gifts for those who are in need this Christmas. You may return your gift purchases unwrapped or placed in a gift bag by the St. altar before or after the weekend Masses. All gift cards should be returned to the collection box located under the tree with the tag attached or in an envelope provided for the organization. We thank you for not returning gifts or gift cards to the church dur- ing the week. Please have all gifts to the church by noon, Sunday, December 8. Your donations are greatly appreci- ated by these organizations who work to bring everyday The Catholic Gentleman necessities and Christmas gifts to the individuals and families they serve! pastor’s ramblings | 4
