Mark this day on your calendar. More details to follow. Reserve Coaches Comments Hi once again and welcome to all Manurewa and Ellerslie supporters. Without wanting to put the mockers on the reserves this week, hopefully we have our season back up and running. We first started with a 2 all draw against second placed Takapuna a couple of weeks ago and after being 2 nil down after 6 minutes, the boys showed great spirit to fight back and draw the game 2 all and had opportunities to win it towards the end. I knew the boys had these qualities in them but too often haven't seen it. Last week saw us play Ngaruawahia in the Knock Out Plate and I’m not sure what happened here but we smashed them 8- 0. It was a pleasing performance especially against a premier reserve side but I think there may have been something amiss. Mind you, we scored some quality goals and our finishing was the most pleasing aspect of that performance. Today is going to be a tough match as Ellerslie sit on top of the league but we have shown in patches throughout the season that we can knock these sides over and will be trying to make sure that we have succeeded in doing this by the time the full time whistle goes. Today we host Ellerslie who have been performing well lately and seen them climb up the table, sitting as high as second. This league is very competitive and picking up a string of results will see your league position change rapidly which is what we are looking to do in the second half of this season, to get us out of the position we find ourselves in. However much we believe in our squad and the glimpses of good performances we have put in, the table doesn’t lie and we can’t continue to rely on belief if we want to push up the table. It will take the boys putting in some hard work for themselves, their teammates and the supporters to earn results and get the season back on track. With a week off to rest and reflect, we are expecting the boys to come back 100% fit and hungry to get on with the job. The grading round had the team competing against a varied quality group of opponents. In most matches, the U19s have been competitive but only in patches. Attitude and applica- tion (both in training and matches) have been key areas which at times, have let the side down. The team has now begun the championship round and this gives all players a chance to work on consistency of performance, for the full 90 minutes. From here, the team can hopefully build some momentum leading up to the Napier U19 tournament . A big thank you to Bhu, the club and to our match day spectators for their support of this year’s U19 side. I’m sure there’s a good reason why we do it... Management Our start to the season has been solid enough. A close Committee loss at Manurewa was followed by a home victory over Onehunga Mangere that was a little more exciting than it Patron needed to be. Last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Takapuna was Jack Poole a real battle. It took us until mid-June to get our fi rst point in Auckland last season, so it was great to get that little President monkey off the back nice and early this time around. To tie in with this historic milestone, the Lotto NRFL will have a new look and feel with the introduction of a logo and further branding, including social media and this weekly programme, for one of the country’s leading club-based competitions. The elements used within the logo refer to various features of the different regions. The wavy lines represent the wide expanses of water that surround Northland, Auckland and the Waikato, including the Waikato River, while the mountains evoke the Waitakere Ranges, Bombay Hills and Kamai Ranges, as well as the numerous volcanoes that are scattered throughout the area. We’ve just had Albany United complete a cup and league double over us, with last Saturday’s 5-1 defeat at 2011 Rosedale Park particularly painful. We’ll try not to dwell on that too much as one of the reasons for that scoreline, Management particularly the margin, was out of our control. We’ve just Committee got to get on with things, focus on what we can control and let the rest of it take care of itself. Patron We welcome Glenfi eld Rovers to the Domain today for Jack Poole what shapes as another vital match, in a season of vital matches, for us. Rovers sit four points ahead of us in a President league table that seems to change wildly from week to Dwayne Barlow week. Vice-President While the top couple of teams look to be clearing out Peter Challis you can still throw a blanket over those sitting from 3rd to 9th. That gives teams such as ourselves, who are a little Treasurer further off the pace, the belief that we can still pick up Dave Mann points every week. That belief has to be the difference Secretary between turning up every Saturday ready to scrap for Julie Clothier survival and giving up.
