LOTTO NRFL Division 1 LOTTO NRFL Division 1 Saturday 11 April Ellerslie 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Ellersie First and Reserve teams to the third home game in a row. Again I will be away. All was not lost last weekend. We had a draw and a loss. Again to all who are covering for me thank you so much it is appreciated. Coming up is the annual club breakfast. Thank you to the Junior Committee for arranging the return to the park of your junior players. I will be there for that Saturday. I can't say alot more, but a win will come soon, keep at it. To all other senior teams enjoy the start of your season today. Kerry Bevan President/Chairman CLUB NOTICES We welcome our new Kitchen Manager Theresa Perez and her husband Paul. Please show them your support by purchasing from the kitchen. We also welcome Pablo and Beatrix Yackson as the new cleaners for the Club. Reserve Coaches Comments Match report for Friday 3 –4-15 We played Mt Albert Ponsonby at home, the result was Manurewa 0-4 Mt Albert Ponsonby. The Manurewa team tried hard, but we were well beat by a team that were quicker to the ball and were sharp with their passing and good movement and running off the ball. Match report for Monday 6-4-15 This was another home game for Manurewa teams again, the score was Manurewa 0-3 Hibiscus Coast. This game was the reserves best effort of the season so far, we had 3 lapses of concentration, and we were punished with 3 goals scored against us, with the last being scored with 10 minutes to play. Upto that moment, Manurewa were very much in the game by creating a number of goal scoring chances throughout the game and also keeping the playing shape of the team. The reserves must work on their passing skills and keeping the ball more. Today we welcome Ellerslie who have always been a tough team to play against and we don't expect that to change today. We also welcome back Michael Manickum, whose brothers Marlon & Tito we hope are able to make a cameo. The first 3 games of the season have seen us improve week on week. As a young team, constant development and gained confidence is vital to getting us results this season as well as future seasons. The few old heads we have in the squad have certainly stepped up and provided guidance for our younger players, and as long as they can stay on the park, it will continue to benefit our team. We now look to continue that improvement today. See you all after the game. I’m sure there’s a good reason why we do it... Management Our start to the season has been solid enough. A close Committee loss at Manurewa was followed by a home victory over Onehunga Mangere that was a little more exciting than it Patron needed to be. Last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Takapuna was Jack Poole a real battle. It took us until mid-June to get our fi rst point in Auckland last season, so it was great to get that little President monkey off the back nice and early this time around. Dwayne Barlow This weekend we play host to two of the favourites Vice-President for the 2011 NRFL division 1 title. This will be a proper Peter Challis examination of where we stand and a good indicator of our prospects for the season. To tie in with this historic milestone, the Lotto NRFL will have a new look and feel with the introduction of a logo and further branding, including social media and this weekly programme, for one of the country’s leading club-based competitions. The elements used within the logo refer to various features of the different regions. The wavy lines represent the wide expanses of water that surround Northland, Auckland and the Waikato, including the Waikato River, while the mountains evoke the Waitakere Ranges, Bombay Hills and Kamai Ranges, as well as the numerous volcanoes that are scattered throughout the area. The Harbour Bridge connects Auckland’s southern suburbs with the North Shore and stands proud in the distance of the logo while the history of the competition is reflected in the slogan ’50 Years of Local Pride’. We’ve just had Albany United complete a cup and league double over us, with last Saturday’s 5-1 defeat at 2011 Rosedale Park particularly painful. We’ll try not to dwell on that too much as one of the reasons for that scoreline, Management particularly the margin, was out of our control. We’ve just Committee got to get on with things, focus on what we can control and let the rest of it take care of itself. Patron We welcome Glenfi eld Rovers to the Domain today for Jack Poole what shapes as another vital match, in a season of vital matches, for us. Rovers sit four points ahead of us in a President league table that seems to change wildly from week to Dwayne Barlow week. Vice-President While the top couple of teams look to be clearing out Peter Challis you can still throw a blanket over those sitting from 3rd to 9th. That gives teams such as ourselves, who are a little Treasurer further off the pace, the belief that we can still pick up Dave Mann points every week. That belief has to be the difference Secretary between turning up every Saturday ready to scrap for Julie Clothier survival and giving up.

Both teams need to win. For us, the three points will give us a chance of staying up, while for our visitors, 2011 Manurewa, those very same points will guarantee them promotion to the Premier League. Management So this is not your typical end of season, nothing to play Committee for, game of football. It’s not life or death either, but the result will shape the immediate futures of both clubs. Patron Football’s much more real when there’s something big to Jack Poole play for. As this is the fi nal programme of 2011, I’d like to thank President a few people. We have, without question, a superb group Dwayne Barlow of supporters and sponsors. The people and businesses Vice-President who have invested dollars in the club this season have Peter Challis ensured it is possible for us to compete in the NRFL, particularly division 1 where every away game is in Treasurer Auckland. Welcome to our Mt Albert/Ponsonby visitors, looking forward to two entertaining games this afternoon. I would encourage you all to partake in refreshments from our well stocked bar, food from our excellent kitchen menu and even a freshly made coffee from our new coffee machine to make your Good Friday football experience complete. I would also like our supporters to really embrace our two relatively young new teams, run by our new expert coaching squad, as Manurewa is reknowned for. Projects the Board have been working on and instilled for this year include two youth acadamies, a dedicated coaching coordinator, two specialised goalkeeping training sessions each week, school holiday programmes for the kids, all run by a mix of ex All Whites, experienced coaches and successful players. Finally, a huge thank you to all the people involved in setting up and getting the new season underway.
