Dear Neighbor, Violence in our community is not inevitable. To say that violence spreads like a disease is not a metaphor—it is what the science now shows. Violence meets the dictionary definition of a disease, and hundreds of studies now confirm that violence is contagious. This is very good news. It is good news because we have highly effective and time-tested public health methods used worldwide to stop the spread of contagious diseases. We are now beginning to apply these methods to end epidemics of violence throughout the world. This resource guide is based on the ideas supported by Cure Violence Global. Many organizations listed here are funded by my office and the Council. Our neighborhood has been a leader in self-empowerment for many decades, and we want to reconnect our community to the resources not only to prevent violence but to thrive. Please stay in touch. How to use this guide: = Free = Funded by = Funded by = Government $ = Paid service CM Cornegy NYC Council service (free) service
