Allocation of secondary school places for September 2018 Abbreviations used: PAN - Published Admission Number SEN - Special Educational Needs EHCP - Education, Health and Care Plan The table below shows the published admission number (PAN) for entry to Year 7 in September 2018 at each secondary school in Hampshire, the total number of applications received (first, second and third preference) and the number of places offered on the national notification date (1 March 2018). The 'Allocated' column refers to children who were unsuccessful in gaining a place at any of their preferred schools and were offered a place at the school by the local authority because it was their catchment school or nearest school with a place available. Hampshire County Council is the admission authority for all community secondary schools and a breakdown of the number of places offered, by admission criteria, is also provided for these schools. For oversubscribed schools, the distance of the last child offered a place (measured in miles as a straight line) is shown. Information about the breakdown of places at other schools (Academies, Foundation, Aided and Trust schools), should be obtained from the school directly. Each school’s admission policy sets out how places are allocated when they are more applications than places available. You can view the admission policy for any school by visiting their school details page at: www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/findaschool. • December 2019 As We Approach the Christmas Break, Students Are Continuing to Work Hard in Lessons
December 2019 As we approach the Christmas break, students are continuing to work hard in lessons. Year 11 students have just completed their first round of mock exams and will receive their results on their Mock Results Day on Tuesday 7th January 2020. In addition, we look forward to discussing their results with parents on Monday 13th January 2020 at the Year 11 Parents’ Evening. Our Year 13 students have also completed their mock exams and will receive their results in one to one interviews with Miss Murray (Head of Post-16). Many Year 13 students are currently in the process of applying for University and are anxiously waiting for their offers to come in. I have been very impressed with how well our Year 7 students have settled in to life at Aldercar High School. They have quite clearly risen to the many challenges that their first term at Secondary School has thrown at them. To celebrate the end of the Autumn Term, on Friday 20th December we will be: having Christmas dinner (at a cost of £2.40); giving students the opportunity to wear Christmas colours or a Christmas jumper for non-uniform day (for a donation of £1); finishing the term at 1.45pm (if your child needs to stay on the school site until 2.45pm, please contact pupil reception by Thursday 19th December and we will arrange for them to be supervised). We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Monday 6th January, at 8:20am. With regards to staffing, we are saying farewell to Mrs Wolverson who is our Catering Manager.

  • Secondary School and Academy Admissions
Secondary School and Academy Admissions INFORMATION BOOKLET 2021/2022 For children born between 1st September 2009 and 31st August 2010 Page 1 Schools Information Admission number and previous applications This is the total number of pupils that the school can admit into Year 7. We have also included the total number of pupils in the school so you can gauge its size. You’ll see how oversubscribed a school is by how many parents had named a school as one of their five preferences on their application form and how many of these had placed it as their first preference. Catchment area Some comprehensive schools have a catchment area consisting of parishes, district or county boundaries. Some schools will give priority for admission to those children living within their catchment area. If you live in Gloucestershire and are over 3 miles from your child’s catchment school they may be entitled to school transport provided by the Local Authority. Oversubscription criteria If a school receives more preferences than places available, the admission authority will place all children in the order in which they could be considered for a place. This will strictly follow the priority order of their oversubscription criteria. Please follow the below link to find the statistics for how many pupils were allocated under the admissions criteria for each school - https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-admissions-scheme-criteria- and-protocol/allocation-day-statistics-for-gloucestershire-schools/. We can’t guarantee your child will be offered one of their preferred schools, but they will have a stronger chance if they meet higher priorities in the criteria.

Although parents have the right to express a preference for the school that they wish their child to attend, there is no guarantee of a place being offered at their preferred school. It is the County Council’s policy to try and meet parents’ wishes where possible, however in some cases there may be more applications for a particular school than there are places available. Admission to oversubscribed community and voluntary controlled schools are determined by the oversubscription criteria detailed below. Oversubscription Criteria If the total number of preferences for admission to a school exceeds the school’s Published Admission Number (PAN), the following order of priority is used to allocate the available places. The pupils were so well behaved, and very much enjoyed the event. As well as thinking about finishing Year 6, the theme of “the importance of bees” was celebrated. The 3D artwork they created is shown here - amazing! - Another highlight was seeing Strictly Come Dancing arrive at St Mark’s. The afterschool club had a finale, hosted by the talented Mrs Bridle. The children did so well as they danced their hearts away to a packed hall. Well done . - Yet another highlight was seeing the Y5 children interact with, and sing to, the residents at Pemberley House. See the Y5 webpage for some ‘moving’ photos, as well as a video of their singing. I welled up as I saw the power of pupils positively impacting on the older generation – and vice-versa. What a school to be part of! And still much to come! Well done to….
