Student Exchange Program Information Sheet 2016 Academic Year 1. General Information 1.1 Brief Introduction University, the Kingdom’s first public university, was established in 1917 by His King ( VI); the University was named after the King’s father, His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). The University extends over a 456-acre tract of land granted by its founder. In the succeeding years, , or “Chula” for short, has grown to become a comprehensive university, which offers over 500 programs in almost all areas of study. The University’s numerous programs, including nearly 90 international programs, cover all fields of study, both traditional academic disciplines and interdisciplinary studies. The present enrollment is approximately 40,000 students, 2/3 is undergraduate students and 1/3 is graduate students. 1.2. Categories of exchange students you will accept Undergraduate: students with at least 2 semesters completed. Graduate* (both Master and Doctoral)

1.3 Semester in which you wish to enroll: Semester System . First (August to December 2016) . Second (January to May 2017) . Summer (June to July 2017) *There is a few program offered in summer such as the International Program in Design and Architecture (INDA)

Trimester System . First (August to November 2016) . Second (December 2016 to March 2017) . Third (April to August 2017) *Trimester System is used for only some international graduate programs.

1.4 Proposed Grading System: . Standard grading system with A, B, C, D and F . Grading with “S” for Satisfactory or “U” for Unsatisfactory (with examination) . Grading with “V” for Visitor or “W” for withdrawn (without examination)

2. Admission Requirements GPA requirement: preferable 3.0: copy of Transcript is required to submit along with application form. Language(s) of instruction (The score should not more than 2 years): TOEFL internet based: 79 computer based: 213 paper based: 550 IELTS overall band: 6.0 Marks: Listen and Speak Thai fluently for regular programs taught in Thai. Listen and Speak English fluently for international programs taught in English. Please submit the proficient test, if any.

An official transcript of academic records (to be issued by the institute presently being attended) 5. An English proficiency score record (for non-native speaker of English)* 6. A copy of passport 7. Study plan / description of academic interests (on a separate sheet of A4-sized paper) 8. Eight 1-inch-colored photos (with blue background) taken no more than six months in polite attire or a civil servant’s uniform, signed on the reverse side, one of which should be attached to the application form. * It is required for the exchange student who would like to study in International Program.

5. On-campus Accommodation Chulalongkorn University international HOUSE: CU i House a 26 – storey on campus residence for international students, in line with the University’s “moving forward” strategy to become more international, the total area of 33,957 square meters, consisting of 846 units.
