FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 28, 2001 The Hyundai exhibit at the New York International Auto Show features three headliners: the two HCD6 concept car, the Hyundai LZ450 luxury sedan, and the allnew GT fivedoor sedan. These three vehicles and the entire valuepacked U.S. Hyundai model lineup are on display at the Hyundai exhibit at the 2001 New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from April 13 to April 22.

The Hyundai HCD6 is a midengine twoseat concept car designed by the Hyundai California Design studio. Powered by a 2.7liter DOHC V6 engine matched to a sixspeed manual transmission, the HCD6 showcases many unique features including floating, detached front and rear bumpers, a seethrough engine cover and threestage paint system that changes from dark purple to teal, based on the viewing angle. The entire sculpted side of the HCD6 is designed as an air intake to duct cool air to the engine compartment.

The Hyundai LZ450 luxury sedan is the largest, most luxurious sedan in the Hyundai line up. This vehicle is currently sold only in the Asian market, but is being displayed in car show form to gauge the reaction of U.S. consumers. The LZ450 features premium amenities, and is powered by a sophisticated DOHC 4.5liter aluminum V8 engine. Its display in New York demonstrates Hyundai’s ability to design and craft a full line of automobiles ranging from small to premium luxury sedans.

The Elantra GT is a “euro sports” fivedoor design that provides the comfort and handling of a European sedan with the cargo carrying versatility only a can provide. The Elantra GT, scheduled to go on sale this June, features a taut European suspension, which includes higher rate springs, gasfilled shock absorbers and larger diameter antiroll bars.

Other unique GT features include rear disc brakes, fivespoke alloy wheels, fog lamps, and a unique instrument panel with purple lighted VDO gauges. Also included as part of the Hyundai Elantra GT package leatherwrapped steering wheel and shift knob, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and CD stereo and leather seating surfaces with front seat side airbags – all standard for only $13,999.

The Elantra is powered by Hyundai’s sophisticated DOHC 2.0liter fourcylinder engine, which is rated at 140 horsepower. This engine also powers the Elantra GLS and the sporty Hyundai Tiburon.

Hyundai’ s display at the New York International Auto Show also features two Hyundai vehicles introduced last year the XG300 sedan, the largest, most luxurious and most expensive Hyundai ever sold in the U.S. and the Santa Fe, Hyundai’s first sport utility designed specifically to meet the needs and preferences of U.S. consumers. Completing the Hyundai display is the midsize Sonata sedan, the Elantra GLS 4door sedan and the subcompact Accent.

All Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S. are covered by the Hyundai Advantage, America’s Best Warranty that includes 10 year/100,000mile powertrain coverage, 5year/60,000mile bumpertobumper coverage, 5year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance and 5year/100,000mile antiperforation protection.
