Mr. Anirban Bhattacharya completed his graduation from Herambha Chandra College under University Of Calcutta.

ACTIVITIES IN PERFORMING ARTS

Anirban Bhattacharya started his journey as an actor in the year 1973 when he was a student of class 3 and from then he participated in different school productions and represented his school in different competitions. Anirban Bhattacharya started his group theatre career from class 10 under Mrinmoy Sen Gupta with a group of Kidderpore known as ‘Achena’. Along with this he continued his recitation. He started his audio acting with Shrabanti Majumdar, Kaushik Bhadro, Uday Basu, Debashish Basu in Bibidho Bharati since 1984. He assisted with Kajal Chakraborty in ‘Mahabharat Er Ekjon’ and also acted as the chief protagonist. Anirban Bhattacharya also assisted in ‘Ali Baba Panchali’ with Mrinmoy Sen Gupta and also acted as the central character of the play. He acted in a commercial theatre known as ‘Panna Bai’ with Aparna Sen directed by Arun Bandhopadhay. He also acted with groups like Sandipan, Achena, Chetona, Rang-Roop, Natyasena as a actor.

He started his directorial career with college dramas in the year 1983 and continued till 1984. Then he directed ‘Kushto Rogir Bou’ story Manik Bandhopadhay in 1990; ‘Agnigorbho Lena’ playwright Shyama Kantya Das in 1991; ‘Dashami’ playwright Sunil Das in 1992; ‘Bhagyarango’ playwright Soumen Chowdhury in 1993; ‘Khacha’ playwright Soumitra Chattopadhay in 1995; ‘Chasma’ playwright Shekhar Samadar in 1998; ‘Charon Kobi’ playwright Ujjal Chattopadhay in 2000; ‘Kirokom Kirokom Hobe’ playwright Ujjal Chattopadhay in 2001; ‘Achalayatan’ playwright Rabindra Nath Tagore in 2002; ‘Babli’ playwright Bratya Basu in 2004; ‘Darashuko’ playwright Ujjal Chattopadhay in 2005; ‘Aguner Barnomala’ playwright Hara Bhattacharya in 2006; ‘Charu’ playwright Ujjal Chattopadhay in 2010; ‘Oedipus’ playwright Hara Bhattacharya in 2012; ‘Ishara Gopon’ playwright Hara Bhattacharya in 2013.

ACHIEVEMENTS

• He achieved 2nd position in ‘Spring Fest’ IIT Kharapur in the year 1986 with a production known as ‘Allor Shandhani’. • He achieved best actors award in 1984 in ‘Eastern Zone Inter College Cultural Meet and Festival’ ‘Lobelia 84’. • He is also awarded as ‘Aaj ker Utpal’ by Natakwala 2008. • He visited NSD in Bharat Rang Mahotsav with his production ‘Aguner Barnomala’.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

He also has worked as ‘Judge’ in different One-Act drama competitions organized in the District level. Presently he is the regular Director of ‘Drishyapat’.
