Volvo . Driving Progress FACT SHEET Rear lift LIFT-BAS

Bogie lift for non-driven axle When bogie lift is carried out, the air in the trailing axle’s air spring suspension bellows is drained, while air is supplied to the lifting bellows. The trailing axle will be elevated and since its are lifted off the ground, wear is eliminated. The axle pressure on the driving axle increases, which gives more propulsion and improved navigability. At the same time, air is also supplied to the driving axle’s air spring suspension bellows, which means that the frame is elevated slightly (offset elevation). This function gives better ground clearance.

Bogie lift combined with traction help Bogie lift denotes either tag axle lift/pusher axle lift or traction help of the rearmost drive axle. The vehicle’s load limit determine the bogie lift function. In the case of traction help, the air in the trailing axle’s air spring suspension bellows are decreased. Consequently, the pressure on the drive axle increases, which gives the vehicle better navigability. There is no offset elevation or lifting of the trailing axle. The trail- ing axle’s wheels never lose contact with the ground as they do during bogie lift. Traction help can, for example, be used to free the if it is stuck on a slippery surface.

Rear axle lift for 6x2 The bogie lift allows the pusher/tag axle to be raised and lowered. When the pusher/tag axle is raised, the tyres are lifted off the road surface, resulting in lower rolling resistance and less friction against the road surface. This also cuts tyre wear and fuel consumption. Increased axle pressure on the driven also gives better traction. The bogie lift has automatic safety features. If the weight on the other axles is too high, the axle will not be able to be raised. If the axle is already raised and the truck is loaded so much that the load on the bogie is too high, the tag/pusher axle will be 6x2 RADT-GR bogie with liftable tag axle. automatically lowered. FEATURES AND BENEFITS • Improved traction possibilities. • Improved fuel consumption. • Improved maneuverability (turning radius better on 6x2 compared 6x4 without liftable tag axle with the same given ). • Improved agility.
