OFF-DUTY FIRE/ SERVICE INFORMATION- EFFECTIVE June/2017 Compensation/Rate of Pay Schedule (4 hour minimum per )

Firefighter (Paramedic, Fire watch) $70.00 per hour Fire Inspector $85.00 per hour Fire Officer $95.00 per hour

All compensation due for services performed by fire department personnel will be paid in advance directly to the City of Miami Beach by check, credit card, or money order only – fire department personnel are prohibited from accepting cash payments.

Events that necessitate advanced planning or extensive time may require the assignment of an event coordinator.

Job cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled starting time of the detail and must be called in to the Fire Special Events Office during normal operating hours. The Fire Special Events Office is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays. The four (4) hour minimum shall apply to cancellations not meeting this requirement.

Pay rates (excluding equipment fees) will be doubled for any off-duty employment performed on the following holidays:

Equipment Fees: Gator All Terrain Vehicle $5.00 per hour $50.00 per hour Fire Boat : $80.00 Rescue Vehicle $25.00 per hour Ladder Truck $75.00 per hour

The MIAMI BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT is NOT obligated to provide off-duty fire/rescue services. Off-duty fire/rescue services will not be approved to any person, firm, or organization whose officers, members, business, or operations are of a questionable nature; or for any event that will discredit the employee, fire department or the City.

It is understood that, notwithstanding the fact that the applicant will pay the department for employee(s) for services rendered. All department personnel will remain employees of the Miami Beach Fire Department. The applicant is restricted to the general assignment of duties to be performed and has no authority over Fire Department personnel.

It is further understood by all parties that fire department personnel performing off-duty services who take action falling within the purview or on the premises of the applicant shall remain in an off-duty service status for the duration of time to complete the processing of such action. Any time beyond that originally contracted for which is used to complete the processing of the fire/rescue action shall be paid for by the applicant. However, fire department personnel taking action outside the purview of the applicant, or off the applicant’s premises, will revert to an on duty status.
