Chelsea Clinton to Lead “Day of Action” for Palm Springs Sunday, Jan. 25 at James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center

The will hold a “Day of Action” with Chelsea Clinton.

WHEN: Sunday, Jan. 25 from 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, 480 Tramview Road.

SUMMARY: Chelsea Clinton and the Clinton Foundation will visit the Desert Highland neighborhood for a “Day of Action” for Palm Springs. The event will be hosted by Mayor Steve Pougnet, Carolyn Caldwell, CEO of Desert Regional Medical Center and local boxing champion Tim Bradley. Chelsea will be presented a proclamation and join Pougnet, Caldwell, Bradley, local pastors and community members in the planting of a new sustainable orchard filled with desert tolerant fruit trees. In addition, the group will paint benches and recreation equipment and lead a bike safety demonstration for neighborhood children. The “Day of Action” will conclude with Mayor Pougnet leading the children on a short bike ride through the neighborhood.

Founded by Chelsea Clinton in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Clinton Foundation “Day of Action” program seeks to create service opportunities and mobilize thousands of volunteers to give back to their communities. Since 2012, the Clinton Foundation has hosted 13 Days of Actions in the U.S. and abroad, which have mobilized more than 4,100 volunteers donating more than 19,700 volunteer hours. In 2014, more than 1,600 volunteers participated in six Days of Action in the cities of Coachella, California, Phoenix, Arizona, Denver, Colordado, Queens and Staten Island, Little Rock, Arkansas and City, New York.
