Victor’s Frightful Journey A narrated tale with string accompaniment
Victor was sitting quietly at home on Halloween night listening to his cd of Twinkle, Twinkle when he heard a strange sound outside. Squeak - bow behind bridge
He looked out the window and caught a fleeting glimpse of a pale, white shadow wrestling in the bushes. Tremolo- fast bows “STOP!!”, he called, “What are you doing?” He raced outside and chased the quick, white shadow. He could barely keep up. They ran up a telephone pole, Glissando- slide finger up string using a long bow stroke! passed some bats Squeak - bow behind bridge and then jumped down into the sewers Glissando- slide finger down string using a long bow stroke! The mice and cockroaches scampered away in fright Taps- finger tips on top of instrument (shoulder)
When Victor came out from underground, he found himself in a strange, dark and gloomy forest, where eerie, weird sounds came out of the darkness. Trill- flutter a note and say “ooooooo” He began to shiver Trill- faster flutter a note really high! Where had that shadow gone?
Suddenly, Victor spun around! Something had tapped him on the shoulder. Knock- gently on back of instrument It was the shadow, a little ghost, who whispered Harmonic glissando- “ghost tones” and then ran deep in to the dark woods. Victor followed the ghost to a big, old house with a huge door that creaked when the little ghost opened it. Creak- press bow on G String and pull
“Welcome to my Halloween Party!!!” Instantly many strange creatures appeared and danced about! Tremolo- fast bows
Victor jumped and ran for the door. He ran through the spooky forest Ponticello/tremolo- fast bows near bridge (will be squeaky)
Went through the nasty sewer past the mice and cockroaches Taps- finger tips on top of instrument (shoulder) Up the telephone pole Glissando- slide finger up string using a long bow stroke! Passed the bats Squeak - bow behind bridge Down the telephone pole Glissando- slide finger down string using a long bow stroke and was home again in his own little garden where the cheerful birds chirped Whistle- YOU whistle and his faithful dog Sparky greeted him BARK!
Victor sighed a deep sigh of relief and walked slowly up the stairs to his room where he could once again faintly hear his cd playing his favorite tune. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
