Japan Platform for Redesign: Sustainable Infrastructure (JPRSI) – List Registration Form Item Content Technology Fluff from waste plastics Category Waste Plastic Technology Entity Name GUUN Co.,Ltd. Summary Mixed plastic wastes which are not suitable for material recycle can be recycled as Fluff by sorting and shredding operation. They can be utilized as alternative fuel for boilers of cement companies or power generation companies. Details 【Purpose】 ・ To recycle plastic wastes and reduce CO2 emission through Thermal recycling. ・To solve Environmental issues and Marine in developing countries which is still lower stages of development in infrastructure and . ・To reduce amount of waste at landfill in Cebu, Philippines. 【Feature】 Fluff fuels can be produced from plastic waste by sorting and shredding operation. They are more eco-friendly than RPF (Refuse derived paper and plastic densified Fuel) because no heat treatment operation is required to produce. 【 Effect 】 ・ Fluff fuel emits the same amount of heat, 6500kcal up to 8000kcal/kg, as oil and during heating. On the other hand, Fluff consumers such as cement manufacturers or power generation companies can cut back on their CO2 emissions by around 17% due to lower carbon content than coal. ・Using Fluff fuel recycled from a ton of plastic waste as alternative fuel of coal would enable us to reduce CO2 emission by approx. 3700kg.
