Ongoing Research Support

1. Aggressive Driving Prevention and Treatment Program Willis, Angelone, Pagell (Co-PI’s) New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of the Highway Traffic Safety Department This grant supports an interdisciplinary program for court directed individuals who have demonstrated an illegal and unsafe level of "road rage" and aggressive driving. The treatment program is meant to provide further information about who might benefit from such targeted interventions, improve upon previously developed interventions, and evaluate the efficacy of the improved intervention both at follow up and six- months post treatment. Role: Co-PI

2. R01 DA018696 Kirby (PI) 2005 - 2010 NIH/NIDA CRAFT Behavior Therapy Phase 2 Study: Tx Entry Component This research involves a comparison of three interventions for concerned significant others of substance abusers. My involvement in this project has been to coordinate the evaluation of treatment integrity for these three interventions. As such, I have developed a system for evaluating treatment integrity, trained and monitored all raters involved in the project, and developed estimates of integrity and inter-rater reliability for the data collected. Programmatic Research

9/98- Alliance Project 5/02 University of Michigan Psychological Clinic

Designed to examine the therapeutic alliance and its relation to psychotherapy process and outcome. Goals: (a) refine and expand upon theoretical and practical knowledge related to the measurement and definition of the alliance, (b) examine processes related to alliance rupture and repair, (c) examine client and therapist factors related to the development and maintenance of the alliance, and (d) explore process-related obstacles to the development of the alliance. Responsibilities: research design and implementation; data analysis; development of an instrument to assess processes related to alliance rupture and repair; presentation of research results; preparation of manuscripts for publication.

1/94- Wellness Project 8/97 Saint Louis University

University-wide program intended to improve student well being through primary, secondary, and tertiary intervention. At the primary level, the program was designed to provide incoming students with psychoeducational information regarding topics such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and alcohol abuse. At the secondary level, the program provided Resident Assistants with information about warning signs that may be observed in their residents. At the tertiary level, the program helped to streamline the referral process for students experiencing difficulty. Responsibilities: extension of the original goals and questions of the project; establishing structure and scope of the project; and collection and analysis of longitudinal data regarding mental health on campus.
