Loddiswell Primary School Newsletter Friday 24th June 2016 www.loddiswellprimaryschool.co.uk

Dear Parents and Carers,

The poor weather has been ruining all of our well made plans! Sports Day had to be cancelled yet again and we have a new date of Monday 11th July at 1.30pm. We hope you can join us to cheer on the children then.

Forest School with Mrs Moore Don’t forget Year 5 are going next Wednesday afternoon as Year 6 are on their residential trip. Foundation Stage are NOT going on Wednesday morning.

Drama Club Mrs Gordon will be away so Improv/Drama Club is cancelled on Monday 27th June.

Devon School Games Mrs Baker will be taking a group of golfers to the Games in next Wednesday. It will be a brilliant day, starting with an opening ceremony just like the Olympics! Everyone competes in their sport along with children from schools all over before a presentation of medals in the afternoon. Parents who have attended in previous years have remarked what a wonderful day it is. If anyone would like to come with us they are more than welcome and of course offers of transport are always gratefully received as we are struggling with numbers.

Grenville house Year 6 Residential On Monday 27th June Year 6 will be heading off to Grenville House. All meals are provided except lunch on the first day. Each child will need to bring a packed lunch and drink. The children should be dropped off at school at the normal time on Monday 27th June and collected on Friday 1st July at normal pick up time. If your child needs to take an Asthma inhaler or any other prescribed medication we will need a Green Medicine Form completed and signed to accompany the prescribed medication. The completed Green Medicine Form along with medication need to be handed to Mrs Teague on the morning of departure. If you need a Green Medicine Form please ask for one from the Office before the day of departure. Under no circumstances can any valuables, mobile phones, Ipods or electronic games be taken on residentials. The children will be taking part in lots of different activities including high ropes, abseiling, indoor climbing, problem solving, raft building and orienteering. We know the

Page 1 of 5 children will all have an unforgettable experience and we are looking forward to hearing about it when they return.

Devon Youth Games 2016 Patrick from the Loddiswell Tennis Club has arranged a trial for year 3 & 4 children on Tuesday afternoon at 1.30pm at the newly refurbished village courts. He would like to make a selection to take part in the Devon Youth Games which takes place on Sunday 3rd July in . This is an out of school activity so parents would be responsible for travelling there and back. The whole of Class 3 will be playing tennis on Tuesday however the children have been given a slip for you to complete so we know who would be able to make the trip before the trials take place.

Bantham Beach Day Thank you to everyone who has returned their permission forms promptly for our beach day on Friday 8th July. There are still quite a few missing so please send them into the office on Monday. The Surf Academy need to know how many children will be having a surf lesson well in advance so they can plan their resources, so unless we have received a completed Indemnity Form AND payment your child will not be able to go in the water on the day. Many thanks.

Nits These unwelcome creatures have been making an appearance yet again. Can we please remind parents that girls with long hair must have it tied up or plaited before they get to school. Regular inspection of your child’s hair is recommended and combing through with tea tree oil or conditioner with a fine tooth comb is the best way to treat.
