Community Police On 9th November 2011 Partick Police held their first police and community Initiative meeting at 7pm in Broomhill Primary School. The purpose of these meetings is to give people from the local community an extra opportunity to speak to police and raise any concerns they might have regarding local issues. This incorporates all members of the local community including residents, shop owners, schools, businesses, clubs and organizations. The meetings will be held quarterly and will be an opportunity for people to speak to local community police officers about issues or advice on any problems they may have. The meetings will run prior to the normal community council meeting and its agenda.

Parking In Broomhill

Parking issues within Churchill Drive have been raised with the police at recent meetings. It was noted how congested it was and also the fact that the grassed and paved areas in front of the properties belong to each individual house. Advice is as follows : If it is a case of people parking on anothers property then it is a civil matter and residents will require to take up the matter with a solicitor not the police. The police are unable to remove any vehicles unless a direct obstruction on the roadway or public footpaths being caused. Residents require to contact the police as they are unable to proactively remove vehicles without a complaint of obstruction. www.communitycouncilsglasgow.co.uk/broomhill

Marshalls`Park

As you may have noticed the seats in the park next to Broomhill Primary School Annexe have been replaced. This was made possible due to a grant of £3,156 which was awarded by the Partick West Area Committee to Broomhill Community Council. Further monies have become available this year which we will hopefully use for work to the pathways.

Friends of Naseby Park It’s been a busy year in Naseby Park. Over the last few months, the play area rejuvenation has been completed with the installation of the new multiunit, springie, hammock and tree seat. The total cost was over £10,000 with various groups providing these funds. Cherry Blossom festival was held in May. The events, including the mini marathon, were enjoyed by many – over £900 was raised. Broomhill Bees – 2 visual artists held 4 workshops over the summer months. We learnt about bees and the children had great fun making their own buzzy friends. Next year our 2012 Cherry Festival will be held on Saturday 12th May. We are always looking for people to help- in any way you can. If you are interested please email [email protected] Next meeting is 22nd February- email us if you wish to come.
