Interstate 69 Momentum Continues to Build Funding Key to Reaching Goal The sustained effort to ramp up planning, funding and construction of priority projects on the 1,142-mile I-69 System in has gained significant momentum in the past few years. TxDOT is pushing forward on steps to advance projects, extending sections of existing I-69 and filling in gaps that will allow some already completed segments to be added to the Interstate Highway System. With new funding sources now available, TxDOT is dramatically accelerating the pace of I-69 project programming. The latest 10-year Unified Transportation Program (UTP) funding plan includes more than 60 projects on the I-69 System covering approximately 175 miles with a total projected construction cost of $6 billion, an increase of more than 50% in I-69 funding compared to last year’s UTP. Several large projects on the I-69 System are scheduled to go to contract in the next few years and significant sections now under construction will be completed by 2022.
