The A48 Trunk Road (, ) (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2011

Made 22 February 2011 Coming into force 25 February 2011

The Welsh Ministers, as traffic authority for the London - Fishguard Trunk Road (A48) (hereinafter referred to as “the trunk road”), in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1) (“the 1984 Act”) and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police for the Police, make this Order. 1. This Order comes into force on the 25 February 2011 and its title is The A48 Trunk Road (Chepstow, Monmouthshire) (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2011. 2. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour in that length of the trunk road at Chepstow in the County of Monmouthshire which extends from a point 124 metres north east of the centre-point of its junction with Upper Church Street to the Wales/ border, being the point on the bridge which coincides with the mid point of the River Wye.

(1) 1984 c.27; Section 84(2) was substituted by the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 (c.22), section 168 and schedule 8, paragraph 61. By virtue of S.I. 1999/672, article 2 and Schedule 1, and paragraph 30 of Schedule 11 to the Government of Wales Act 2006, these powers are now exercisable by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Welsh Ministers have made an Order under section 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which comes into force on 25 February 2011.

The effect of the Order is to impose a 50 mph speed limit on that length of the London – Fishguard Trunk Road (A48) (hereinafter referred to as “the trunk road”) at Chepstow in the County of Monmouthshire which extends from a point 124 metres north east of the centre-point of its junction with Upper Church Street to the Wales/England border, being the point on the River Wye bridge which coincides with the mid point of the River Wye.

During a period of 6 weeks from 24 February 2011, a copy of the Order and associated plan may be inspected free of charge, during normal office hours, at Monmouthshire One Stop Shop, Lower Wye, Manor Way, Chepstow or may be obtained free of charge from the address below quoting the reference number CZ510-2-11- qA872865/1.
