/// FACE /// Bonnie Prince Billy a neke ljude Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy je najta- lentovaniji muzi~ar-pesnik svoje generacije Obo`avaju ga PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Bjork Neki misle da je za ulogu u filmu Old Joy morao da bude nominovan za Oskara Ako je Neil Young bio otac grand`a i uzor Nirvani i Pearl Jamu, onda je Bonnie to isto za tzv fre- ak-folk generaciju, Devendru Banharta i Joannu Newsom Na koncertima ~esto peva pesme koje su proslavili AC/DC, R Kelly, Mariah Carey, Merle Hag- gard i ne skriva da u`iva u tome Taj i takav Bonnie ZPrince Billy u junu dolazi u Beograd Ako `ivite u Srbiji i ako na bilo koji na~in javno ispoljite simpatije prema Americi, izlo`i}ete se realnom riziku da budete neshva}eni da li zbog toga {to je ve}ini ovda{njih ljudi prva asocijacija na Ameriku McDonalds i Coca Cola, tj truli kapitalizam, zli predsednik Bush (Clinton, Reagan ili bilo koji drugi), bombardovanje Srbije, Oprah Winfrey S druge strane, postoje ljudi U I See a Darkness se zaljubila i Bjork, te 2003 godine poziva Oldhama da kojima muzika Boba Dylana i Neila Younga zna~i mnogo vi{e nego Big Mac, joj bude predgrupa na ameri~koj turneji Tada je svirao u Hollywood Bowlu ljudi koji su navu~eni na filmove bra}e Cohen i HBO serije, ili na prozu Jacka pred 25 000 ljudi, {to je najbrojnija publika pred kojom je ikada nastupao Kerouaca i Kurta Vonneguta upravo na sve ono {to `estoko kritikuje malo- Poznanstvo sa Bjork rezultiralo je saradnjom sa njenim producentom Valgei- pre pomenuti sistem vrednosti koji ve}ina poistove}uje s Amerikom raom Sigurdssonom, i ponajvi{e zahvalju}i njemu u`ivamo u svim onim gu- da~ima i rasko{noj produkciji na albumu The Letting Go Peva~, gitarista i tekstopisac Will Oldham, poslednjih desetak godina poznati- ji pod pseudonimom Bonnie Prince Billy jedan je od predstavnika Amerike Problem ve}ine ameri~kih muzi~ara koji koketiraju sa kantrijem i alternativ- koju volim da volim, Amerike o kojoj sam u~io iz knjiga Karla Maya i teksto- nim rokom je {to su ili previ{e tradicionalni, ili slajd gitaru koriste samo kao va/emisija @ikice Simi}a (zanimljivo da obojica nikada nisu bili u Americi) zvu~ni dekor Oldham nema taj problem, po{to on savr{eno kombinuje ne samo pomenuta dva pravca, ve} i mnogo drugih pop, soul, bluz, gospel, Krajem osamdesetih i po~etkom devedesetih godina pro{log veka, Oldham se ~ak i d`ez u par pesama Njegova svestranost je dokazana puno puta, a naj- oku{ao kao glumac u nekoliko niskobud`etnih filmova U Holivudu nije pro{ao sve`iji primeri su saradnje sa ~ika{kim post-rok legendama Tortoise, hip-ho- ba{ kako se nadao, pa se 1992 vra}a {vorc u rodni Lujvil Nedugo potom, perom Kanye Westom, a ~ak sam Oldham ne krije kako voli da slu{a Madon- Oldham osniva svoj prvi bend Palace Flophouse, da bi ubrzo promenio ime u nu i R Kellyja Stoga, nimalo ne ~udi {to njegova publika poseduje eklekti~niji Palace Brothers, zatim u Palace Music, pa u Palace, da bi se kona~no krajem muzi~ki ukus od publike nekog drugog benda iz istog `anra devedesetih ustoli~io kao Bonnie Prince Billy (pome{ao je imena engleskog prestolonaslednika Bonnie Prince Charlesa i revolvera{a Billy the Kida) Tamo gde je stao sa pro{logodi{njim mini albumom obrada Ask Forgivness, ovih dana, nastavlja na aktuelnoj plo~i Lay Down in the Light i dalje su pri- Za Oldhamov debi album There Is No-One What Will Take Care of You iz sutni tamni oldhamovski tonovi, ali u skladu s imenom albuma, tra~ci svetlo- 1993 se govorilo da je ukrstio uticaje alternativnog roka i kantrija, dok se sti se srame`ljivo pomaljaju u stihovima danas smatra klasikom amerikane Album Joya (ina~e jedini koji je snimio pod svojim kr{tenim imenom) obele`io je pravi pop hit O Let it Be, dok je Willov glas je prili~no evoluirao od prvih Palace albuma do dana{njih dana plo~a I See a Darkness op~inila i Ricka Rubina, na ~iji predlog je Johnny Sada zvu~i mnogo sigurnije i ne ustru~ava se da zapeva i najvi{e tonove Ono Cash obradio naslovnu pesmu (sa sve prate}im Oldhamovim vokalom) {to je ostalo isto je ta ne`nost u njegovom pevanju, zbog koje ga mnogi pore- de sa Neilom Youngom Od ranih radova, tj od pesama bez {minke, post- Izme|u debija i Tame objavio je nekoliko izuzetno zanimljivih i zna~ajnih produkcije ili za{e}erenih trubica, do danas kada sebi mo`e da priu{ti guda- albuma, pre svih tu su Days in the Wake (potpisan kao Palace Brothers, ali ~e i prave producente, ono najva`nije u muzici nije se promenilo: bilo da prakti~no solo Will Oldham) i Viva Last Blues peva o propalim ljubavima, zasi}enosti `ivotom, grehu, religiji, Oldham zvu~i kao da je sve to pro`iveo Njemu je tako lako verovati Joya otpo~inje melodi~no poglavlje u karijeri Willa Oldhama, koji od 1999 pa sve do danas nastupa pod imenom Bonnie Prince Billy Te godine izlazi nje- I upravo takvog muzi~ara imamo ~ast da gledamo u beogradskom SKC-u gov najmra~niji, najprodavaniji i po mnogima najbolji album I See a Darkness! Jedna od stvari koja je bila druga~ija u procesu snimanja ove plo~e jeste da smo snimili glas i instrumente u`ivo Ja obi~no sviram ne{to dok pevam, ali ovaj put nisam, tako da sam sve vre- me bio fokusiran na pevanje, {to je mo`da stvorilo neki druga~iji izvo|a~ki odnos prema pesmi, koga ranije nije bilo Ovog puta sam se vi{e pridru`io ostalima, dok bih ih obi~no predvodio {to je zahtevnija uloga Jo{ jedna stvar koju sam hteo da postignem s ovom plo~om jeste da mogu da `ivim sa ovim pesmama, da one ne budu ne{to destruktivno ili zahtevno, `eleo sam da mirno koegzistiram sa njima Da li je tvoja namera bila da napravi{ album koji }e biti veseliji, `i- vlji, radosniji?     Das große Alan-Bangs-Nachtsession1-Archiv der FoA Alan Bangs hatte beim Bayerischen Rundfunk seit Februar 2000 einen besonderen Sendeplatz, an dem er eine zweistündige Sendung moderieren konnte: „Durch die Initiative von Walter Meier wurde Alan ständiger Gast DJ in den Nachtsession‘s, welche jeweils in der Nacht vom Freitag zum Samstag auf Bayern2 ausgestrahlt werden. Seine 1.Nachtsession war am 18.02.2000 und seit dieser ist er jeweils 3 bis 4mal pro Jahr zu hören – die letzte Sendung wurde am 1.12.2012 ausgestrahlt.
