Das große Alan-Bangs-Nachtsession1-Archiv der FoA

Alan Bangs hatte beim Bayerischen Rundfunk seit Februar 2000 einen besonderen Sendeplatz, an dem er eine zweistündige Sendung moderieren konnte:

„Durch die Initiative von Walter Meier wurde Alan ständiger Gast DJ in den Nachtsession‘s, welche jeweils in der Nacht vom Freitag zum Samstag auf Bayern2 ausgestrahlt werden. Seine 1.Nachtsession war am 18.02.2000 und seit dieser ist er jeweils 3 bis 4mal pro Jahr zu hören – die letzte Sendung wurde am 1.12.2012 ausgestrahlt. Im Jahr 2001 gab es keine Nachtsession, 2002 und 2003 jeweils nur eine Sendung.“ (Zitat aus dem bearbeiteten Alan-Bangs-Wiki auf http://www.friendsofalan.de/alans-wiki/

Ab 2004 gab es dann bis zu vier Sendungen im Jahr, die letzte Sendung war am 1.12. 2010.

Alan Bangs‘ Nachtsession- Sendungen wurden zeitweise mit Titeln oder Themen versehen, die auf der Webseite bei Bayern 2 erschienen. Dazu gab es teilweise einleitende Texte zusätzlich zu den Playlisten dieser Sendungen. Soweit diese (noch) recherchierbar waren, sind sie in dieses Archiv eingepflegt.

Zufällig tellt sich bei der Zusammenstellung dieses Archivs heraus, dass auch dieses Sendeformat gerade jetzt beim bayerischen Rundfunk eingestellt wird.

16 Die Platte entstand so: Willard Grant Conspiracy - diese sich personell ständig im Fluss befindliche Truppe rund um Sänger und Robert Fisher - sollten in Slovenien ein Festival spielen. Kaum in angekommen, besuchte man den dort ansässigen Chris Eckman, seines Zeichens Frontmann der Walkabouts. Dieser wiederum hatte Lust auf eine Session und so ging man eben ins Studio. Das Ergebnis liegt jetzt vor. Zu hören sind viele Geigen, viele Mollakkorde und zauberhafter, elfengleicher Backgesang unter anderem beigetragen von Jess Klein (was für eine Stimme!) und Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses). Fishers Gesang bewegt sich auf der Ebene von Nick Cave und Konsorten. Seine Kompositionen dagegen sind deutlich feiner gesponnen als die der Konkurrenz. Das schützt ihn nicht vor mancher Belanglosigkeit („Another man is gone"), erzeugt aber auch wahre Wunder an melancholischen Songs. Vor allem das herausragende „The trials of Harrison Hayes" muss man erwähnen und empfehlen, aber auch das bereits erschienene „Twistication", bei dem Fisher wie Kurt Wagner singt. Unterm Strich finden sich auf „Regard the end" zwar eine ganze Reihe lohnenswerter Stücke, der Rest ist aber etwas sehr beschaulich geraten. Beschaulich wie Ljubljanas Innenstadt. «Triptychon» – Dreiteilige Bildtafel. Ein bisschen Pathos muss sein: In der Kirche wird seit Jahrhunderten vor dreiteiligen Bildtafeln gebetet. Wie sehr das «Triptychon» die zeitgenössische Kunst bzw. Musik beeinflusst, zeigt uns «Alan Bangs» in der heutigen «Nachtsession». Die besagten 3 Teile bestehen aus: 1. Wüstensounds, 2. Zeitgenössische Musik, 3. Die guten alten Hippies – «Alan Bangs» beginnt diese «Nachtsession» mit Klängen aus dem arabischen Kulturraum von unter anderem: «Speed Caravan» und «Maghrebika With Bill Laswell», «Thierry «Titi» Robin» fließt dann nahtlos in die Zeitgenössische Musik des 21. Jahrhunderts von unter anderem «Bon Iver», «Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo» oder «Birdy». Mit Musikern wie «Brian Eno», «Paul Simon», die ihre Hochzeit in den 70er und 80er Jahren hatten bzw. «Charlie Feathers», der seine Zeit in den 50er Jahren hatte, wird dann das «Triptychon» vollendet.

«A Journey into Sound» – Musik aus fünf Jahrzehnten – «Alan Bangs» schlägt wieder große musikalische Bögen, startet mit «Ian Hunter» , sowie mit dem Blues der «Robins» – eine schwarze Doo-Wop-Band – aus dem Jahr 1954 (die später als «The Coasters» weltberühmt wurden), erinnert an die fast vergessenen Platte «1. Outside» aus dem Jahr 1995 von «David Bowie», kommt auf das aktuelle Album «Le Noise» von «Neil Young» – Produzent: «Daniel Lanois» – ebenso zu sprechen wie auf den frühen «Roy Orbison» mit: «Trying to Get to You» aus dem Jahr 1956. Dazu gibt es aber auch noch Brandneues von «Bon Iver», «The Feelies» aus dem Album: «Here Before». Wie immer kommen auch hier diverse musikalische Welten und Epochen organisch zusammen.

Django hat ne Chipkarte Die modern Popmusik wird von zwei sehr unterschiedlichen Stilrichtungen geprägt: Zum einen von sehr traditionell-orientierten Singer/Songwritern , die in dieser Sendung vertreten sind durch Natasha Atlas, Katheleen Edwards, Emmylou Harris und Birdy, zum anderen durch Projekte, die sich die modernsten technischen Errungenschaften zunutze machen, hier repräsentiert durch M83, Django Django, Sleigh Bells, Weeknd oder Zola Jesus.
