Good Maintenance Practices

What’s an Air Suspension Strut? • The air suspension strut is basically an air bladder with an integrated that is part of an system designed to maintain the vehicle at the correct and provide proper stability under various loads and road conditions. An air suspension strut is comparable in function to a MacPherson strut on a conventional suspension system; however, the air strut bladder is flexible and has a specific amount of elasticity making it an ideal design for a variable suspension system.

What causes it to fail? • Road debris, extreme temperatures, environmental conditions and excessive loads can cause the air suspension strut to fail over time.

Are there any special tools I need to install it? • A scan tool capable of communicating with the air suspension control module will be necessary for installation.

Is there any programming, relearning or reconfiguring that has to be done? • Certain vehicles will need a vehicle height offset calibration because the vehicle height sensor data may have been affected due to the installation of the replacement air strut.
