Dominika gdje su sudionici skupa mogli pogledati monodramu Teatra VeRRdi „Desnica: igre proljeća i smrti“ u režiji i izvedbi Jurja Arasa. Time smo nastavili dobru tradiciju suradnje s gradovima i općinama u široj okolici Zadra. U Vjesniku, pod naslovom Kada ćemo odgovoriti Grgi Gamulinu?, sedmero književnika (Stanko Bašić, Veselko Koroman, Vitomir Lukić, Nikola Martić, Mirko Marjanović, Vladimir Pavlović i Mile Pešorda)

It examines the development of ideas of collectivism and individualism in Russian society, focusing on the cultural aspects based on the examples of selected works from Russian literature. It also searches for the answers in the philosophical works of Vladimir Solovyov, Nicolas Berdyaev and Vladimir Lossky.

Consequently, visitors need to trust museums with their interpretation of reality. Historical or national museums hold a central role, insofar as they strongly influence the identity of entire nations. In this article, I will study the ways in which heritage is used to construct politically engaged collective memories and contemporary Russian cultural policies, which promote such uses. In particular, I will analyse the transformation of the 2013-2016 Moscow Manege exhibitions into an entertainment centre called ‘Russia––my (hi)story’, which is promoted by the Russian Orthodox Church and supported by the authorities. Another case presented herein is the Gulag History Museum in Moscow. My aim is to demonstrate how the cultural heritage is being ‘applied’ to construct historical narratives of the difficult past and what is the relation of cultural policies implemented by the state to this process.

ETHNIC WAR AND PEACE IN POST-SOVIET EURASIA By SCOTT GRANT FEINSTEIN A DISSERTATION PRESENTED TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2016 © 2016 Scott Grant Feinstein To my Mom and Dad ACKNOWLEDGMENTS In the course of completing this monograph I benefited enormously from the generosity of others. To my committee chair, Benjamin B. Smith, I express my sincere appreciation for his encouragement and guidance. Ben not only taught me to systematically research political phenomena, but also the importance of pursuing a complete and parsimonious explanation. Throughout my doctoral studies Ben remained dedicated to me and my research, and with his incredible patience he tolerated and motivated my winding intellectual path. I thank my committee co-chair, Michael Bernhard, for his hours spent reading early manuscript drafts, support in pursuing a multi-country project, and detailed attention to clear writing. Michael’s appreciation of my dissertation vision and capacity gave this research project its legs. Ben and Michael provided me exceptionally valuable advice. I am also indebted to the help provided by my other committee members – Conor O’Dwyer, Ingrid Kleespies and Beth Rosenson – who inspired creativity and scientific rigor, always provided thoughtful and useful comments, and kept me searching for the big picture. Ivan Pederin Sveučilište u Zadru Odjel za kroatistiku i slavistiku Obala kralja P. Krešimira IV, 2, HR – 23000 Zadar Promegomena ad Biographiam Croaticam (U Viencu do šenoine Smrti) Vienac je objavio velik broj životopisa i nekrologa. Najprije europskih učenjaka, među kojima je više filologa nego prirodoznanstvenika. Time je Vienac uzdigao znanost do nacionalnog načela napretka.

PROF. DR. VLADISLAV B. SOTIROVIĆ Mykolas Romeris University Faculty of Politics and Management Political Science Institute Email: [email protected] [email protected] This paper, as the main research task, sets out to examine and clarify historical deve- lopment of the ideological concept of Pan-Slavism, which was created by the writers of Dalmatia and Croatia at the time of the late Renaissance and early Baroque (from the end of the 15th century to the end of the 17th century). The literary works of that time by many of Dalmatia’s and Croatia’s writers deal with the ethnolinguistic aspect of Pan- Slavic unity, solidarity, kinship and reciprocity. Their writings established an ideologi- cal framework for making both Pan-Slavic common national identity and program of the united single national state of the South Slavs in the Balkans. This “ethnolinguistic” framework of Pan-Slavic, and especially South Slavic, national identity became in the 19th and the 20th centuries the cornerstone of national ideology of Yugoslavism and Pan-Slavism which ultimately led to the creation of Yugoslavia in 1918 and its recrea- tion in 1945. The main aspect of the ideology of Pan-Slavism and Yugoslavism that was developed in the literature and historical writings in Dalmatia and Croatia from 1477 to 1683 was based on the old domestic thought and tradition that all Slavs originated in the Balkans and that the South Slavs are autochthonous inhabitants of this peninsula.

  • Russophilia and Russophobia in Bulgaria: Discourses Bridging Past and Present
RUSSOPHILIA AND RUSSOPHOBIA IN BULGARIA: DISCOURSES BRIDGING PAST AND PRESENT By Iris Belensky Submitted to Central European University Department of International Relations In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in International Relations Supervisor: Professor Michael Merlingen CEU eTD Collection Word Count: 17, 231 Budapest, Hungary 2018 Abstract This thesis seeks to bring to light the influence of Bulgaria’s identity construction, with reference to its historical relationship with Russia, upon the debate and negotiation of current foreign and domestic policy issues. In order to do this, the thesis first delineates the basic discourses of Russophilia and Russophobia that developed over the course of Bulgaria’s historical relations with Russia and the ways in which they construct the Bulgarian Self with relation to its Russian Other. The thesis then examines the arguments made in two contemporary policy debates – the debate over the mandatory inclusion of the communist period in Bulgarian school curricula, and the debate over the ratification of the Istanbul Convention - assessing them for the structuring influences of the motifs and logics of the basic discourses of Russophilia and Russophobia. The thesis finds that the basic discourses of Russophilia and Russophobia continue to act as conditions of possibility and structuring agents within contemporary policy debates. However, the development of these debates has had an effect on the discourses as well – emphasizing incompatibility between Russophilia and Russophobia, and thus polarizing the discourses. CEU eTD Collection ii Acknowledgements The creation of this thesis represented a process of personal expansion driven by forces much greater than I.

  • Russian Cultural-Historical Consciousness in Early Slavophile Philosophy Marina Shirokova Altai State University, 656049, 61A Lenina Prospect, Barnaul, Russia
SHS Web of Conferences 55, 05012 (2018) https://doi.org/10.1051/shsconf/20185505012 ICPSE 2018 Russian cultural-historical consciousness in Early Slavophile philosophy Marina Shirokova Altai State University, 656049, 61a Lenina prospect, Barnaul, Russia Abstract In this article, the author describes the concept of “cultural- historical consciousness” as substantial matter of any nation or any period in the cultural and historical development. Russian cultural-historical consciousness is considered to be the appreciation of Russian culture by its people. It is the acknowledgment of its destination and values in correlation with other cultures and the world in general. As for correlation of such concepts as “cultural-historical consciousness” and “national consciousness”, the national or ethnical principle represents one of the cultural-historical aspects. In the author’s opinion, slavophiles conceived Russian philosophy as one that truly reflects the national consciousness. They were pioneers who managed to put together the logical-conceptual tools of European science and the mindset heavily influenced by the orthodox culture, as well as included it in our national language and consciousness. 1 Introduction Nowadays, the interest towards the heritage of slavophiles in contemporary philosophy is growing. It is due to the fact that they were the first of all in the educated Russian society who made a great attempt to theoretically comprehend the country and themselves. They tried to see into their distinctiveness and state their place in the historical process among other nations. The Russian cultural-historical consciousness became a self-consciousness, a self- reflection that grasped not only the subject itself (which is Russia as a civilization and a culture), but the very way of thinking and its peculiarities.
