Cnoc An Devora

Argyll is well known for its favourable climate for the growth of commercial conifer species and most notably the exceptional growth of Sitka spruce which thrives in this part of the country. Cnoc An Devora was established with mainly Sitka spruce in two stages, with the lower two thirds planted in 1976, followed by the upper third in 1987.

Since then, felling and replanting of the lower third of the forest has now taken place over the past 10 years and this second rotation growth is impressive and demonstrates what can be expected from improved Sitka spruce. The most recent replanting was carried out in 2018 and is establishing well and a small area remains to be replanted.

Further felling can be anticipated in the remaining PY1976 crop within the next 5 years and 10 – 15 years within the PY1987 crop. Further details are available from the selling agent upon request.
