LOCATION
The Bunnahabhain and Finlaggan Forests are located at the north end of the island of Islay, The North Atlantic Drift, often called the Gulf Stream, is a warm ocean current that close to the Bunnahabhain Distillery, pronounced Bu-na-ha-venn and derived from the affects the west coast of Scotland, producing the mild and damp climatic conditions Scottish Gaelic meaning ‘mouth of the river’. Islay is not large - approximately 25 miles favoured by commercial conifers. Islay receives average annual rainfall of 1237mm. wide and 16 miles long, but well-served by a network of county roads. Timber from the island has previously been transported from Port Ellen. Port Askaig is 3.5 miles to the east of Finlaggan Forest; Bowmore, the administrative capital of the island 9.5 miles to the south-west and Port Ellen, on the south coast - The attached sale plan shows Lot 1, Bunnahabhain, extending to 605 hectares; lying just 18 miles. to the south is Lot 2 Finlaggan, 378 hectares.

These Scottish rulers were descendants of Sommerled who is renowned for freeing the Western Isles from the tyranny of the Vikings.
