Safari to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest & Queen Elizabeth National Parks – 5 Days/4 Nights

Safari Itinerary Day One: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Meet and greet at your Kampala hotel/ at 0600hrs. An early morning start from Kampala, driving west with a stop at the Equator for photo moments. You will proceed to Agip Motel Mbarara where you will stop for lunch. Drive through savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns.

You’ll then ascend into the Kigezi highlands also known as the "Switzerland of Africa", with its terraced farming and mountain scenery. Get to Bwindi with dinner and overnight at your chosen accommodation. (Transit time: 10 hrs.)

Day Two: Gorilla Trekking After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular as the area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape. Bwindi Forest is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity.

Day Three: Bwindi – Queen Elizabeth National Park Early morning transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and proceed to the Ishasha sector famous for its tree climbing lions. You will have a game drive in search of the lions and other wildlife that includes the elephant, lion, hippo, leopard, buffalo and Uganda kob. After lunch you will proceed with game drive to Mweya Peninsula.

Embark on an afternoon game drive in search of more wildlife in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Lookout for prides of lions, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, de fassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. Drive in for dinner and overnight at your chosen accommodation. (Transit time: 5 hours)

Day Four: Queen Elizabeth National Park Wake-up and follow your instincts on an adventurous sunrise game-drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park's diverse Eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters. It is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife.

You will enjoy game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzori as a backdrop. This provides for excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, de fassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. Later in the afternoon you will take a boat cruise on the spectacular Kazinga Channel. This offers you an excellent platform for photography and game viewing.

The birdlife is colorful and abundant as there is a wide array of colorful beautiful birds soaring near to the water surface. Among the common species to look out for are the Martial Eagles, African spoonbills, Cormorants, African Skimmers, Pelicans and Papyrus Gonolek, in addition to the occasional hard to pin down Shoebill Stork. You will be privileged to see schools of hippos and Nile- crocodiles sunbathing with their jaws open wide.

Return to your accommodation facility for overnight.

Day Five: Chimpanzee Trek - Departure After breakfast, follow the path of evolution to the home of Man’s closest relatives, the Chimpanzees, as you track them in Kalinzu Forest. This forest reserve is located in Bushenyi district in the Southwestern part of Uganda near Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Maramagambo forest. It lies on an average altitude of about 1400m above sea level.

The reserve is known for its 414 species of trees and shrubs including prunus African Ficus and Parinari among others. The forest is also famous for its six different primate species that include chimpanzee, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, L’hoest guenon, vervet monkeys, and baboon.

The reserve also harbors 378 species of birds including sun birds, black and white casket, cuckoos and the Great Blue Turaco, it hosts also 97 moths, 262 butterflies, flowers and reptiles. Due to the fact that Kalinzu Forest is near to Queen Elizabeth National Park, it provides a refuge to savannah grassland species such as leopard, lion, wild pig and Duiker, waterbuck, giant forest hog, buffaloes, elephants to mention but a few.

Thereafter you will return to Kampala with a stop at the Igongo Cultural Center. Proceed to the capital with a drop off at your Kampala Hotel. (Transit Time: 6hrs.)
