It’s time to plant Japanese Maples For Fall & Spring Color Year after Year

Japanese maples make an excellent stand-alone specimen, focal point, or accent in the garden. They thrive when planted in moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soil rich with organic materials. Perennials and ground covers planted around the base of the tree can add additional color to the area in addition to providing an area of protection to the trunk to prevent mower and weed-eater injury. Good companion plants include Ginkgos, Azaleas, Conifers, Sedum, and Dianthus, Cyclamen, Daffodils, Bells, Mondo Grass, Hostas, and assorted ferns.
