We are happy to announce that Tenali Municipality ranked 3rd place in performance Indicators for the month of December – 2016 among 110 ULBs all over the state of and also achieved 1st place in overall cumulative ranking for the year 2016-17.

During the month of January Municipality is implementing schemes for development of the town. We are working on activities such as Swachh Servekshan-2017, Happy Sunday Event, Poster Free Town and we are also implementing the state and central government schemes such as Implementation of Housing for all, Go-No 279 on Solid Waste Management and AMRUT. The Survey team from AECOM has conducted Soil Testing for construction of STP’s in the town under AMRUT. The City Sanitation Plan for City of Tenali has been prepared in order to recognize the stress areas in the sanitation sector and establish priorities in the intervention areas along the defined strategic guidelines and approved by the council.

The Union Ministry of Urban Development launched Swachh Survekshan 2017 to rank 500 cities/towns across the country on cleanliness with a population of 1 lakh and above. The survey will be conducted by Quality Council of (QCI) under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in a bid to encourage competition to improve sanitation. The QCI survey team has visited Tenali Municipality, monitored and conducted survey from 17th to 19th January. Activities like awareness campaign, thematic drives have been organized in Tenali municipality to attain good rank in Swachh Survekshan -2107. Current activities

Council Meeting: The council meeting organized in the starting of the month. The Meeting focussed developments of old government hospital, City Sanitation Plan, development of drains and roads and other development works also granted funds for this purpose. Under the supervision of Sri. P Venkata Rao the Panel Chairperson, except 100th agenda, all agendas has been accepted by the council.

Swachh Sarvekshan Activities -2017 In order to foster a healthy competition between cities, the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) started the “Swachh Sarvekshan” survey in 2016 which rated 73 cities across the country. Following the same, the MoUD has issued guidelines for “Swachh Sarvekshan” 2017 which will conduct a survey to rank 500 cities (having a population of 1 lakh and above). The components covered in this survey are: • Solid Waste Management (SWM) including road sweeping, municipal solid waste from residential, commercial areas and from construction & demolition waste. • Individual, community and public toilets • Open defecation free city/town strategy • Information, education and behaviour change communication (IEBC) strategy, and • ICT based system to enhance Urban Local Body (ULB) operations. The QCI survey team has visited Tenali Municipality, monitored and conducted survey from 17th to 19th January. City Sanitation Plan

Brief Note on City Sanitation Plan

City Sanitation Plan is a 30 -year strategic framework to deliver on the long-term vision we have set for the sanitation sector of Tenali Town. The Plan provides a strategic framework and operational details for systematic handling of all the related activities in infrastructure development, sanitation and solid waste management services of the City Administration. Vision of the Plan:

The Plan will enable to build Tenali Town into a “neat, clean and litter-free Town for liveable, healthy, environment friendly, cultural town with standard of vicinity”

The current issues that affect the growth of Water Supply, Sanitation, Storm Water Drainage and Solid Waste Management sectors along with the existing situations, practices and ongoing central and state schemes for the improvement of the same were studied and analyzed considering future demand till 2045. Based on the analysis developed on the current sanitation situations/practices, certain strategies for the development of the said sectors that suit for Tenali Town are recommended. Water Supply: 30.50 MLD water supply scheme commenced recently in town and 21750 Household service connections is proposed AMRUT with an amount of Rs. 8.55Cr. Development of water supply distribution network including filling up of gaps in existing network cost around 3 Crs. In Tenali heart of the town there are 5 water bodies exits for an extent of 31.66 acres at Itanagar – 2 tanks, Rajaka tank – 2 Parts and at . ULB has already taken up developments to Rajaka tank – one part. Now it is required to take up beautifications to four tanks duly taking up linings to tank portion, modernization of inlet outlet facilities, fencing and providing walkers track which cost around 12 Crs. Under Ground Drainage: Tenali Municipality has prepared Detailed Project report for Comprehensive UGD for Rs.160.00 Crores. The Detailed Project Report has been submitted to Government of India for sanction. Further the Government of India has sanctioned Rs.18.50 Crores under AMRUT Project for the financial years 2016-2020. Also 5 MLD STP has been taken in NCB colony with an estimated cost of 10 Crs under 14th finance commission grants. Additional another 10 MD STP would be required in future for sewerage treatment. Solid Waste Management: At present every day 75MTs of solid waste is generated in the town and the municipality is having 6.72 acres of compost yard. 100% Door to door collection is maintained in the town. Tenali Municipality achieved 3rd Rank in the AP Swachh Bharat ranking released by Government of India. Out Sourcing of Solid waste Management Costs around 150 Cr for the period of 30 Years.

Janmabhoomi Program: The Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched a people centred development and welfare outreach programme called “Janmabhoomi – Maa Vooru” in the month of October, 2014, and has since conducted three rounds of Janmabhoomi Programme. As the next phase, the 4th Round of Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru (JBMV) programme has been conducted from 2nd to 11th January, 2017 in all wards in the Municipality. A total 3886 applications has been received in all categories such as pensions, Housing, Ration cards, toilets, tap connections, voters, Gas connections etc.,

Inspection of Engineering Works The Municipal Commissioner has visited in the town on various developmental works which were under construction along with Municipal Engineering officials and given several instructions to speed up the said works.

Happy Sunday

The vision is to encourage people to congregate and develop living streets — streets that encourage pedestrians, cyclists and other NMT modes. Streets are public assets but on most days are monopolized by cars, two wheelers, trucks, buses etc. On this day, predefined roads are blocked so that people can regain ownership of the streets. The end goal is to help build safer, happier, healthier and more sustainable cities where own ership of making cities sustainable on citizens. Tenali municipality have been planned to organize the event on every third Sunday of the month. On an average 2000 citizens have participated in the event and made this event a great success.
