A Closer Look The star of Butterfly and Caterpillar Weekend is the Caterpillar Lab from the New Hampshire-based nonprofit of the same name. With no separation glass, you have a front-row seat to witness these young crawlers in various stages of development as they move around on their host plants while eating, camouflaging, and even defending themselves against perceived threats. For researchers, one of the most exciting features that the axolotls retain into adulthood is the ability to regrow body parts after injury. This makes them useful for scientists working to develop regenerative medicine, and maybe one day give people the ability to regrow new body parts.
