ADDISON TRAIL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION Protecting Yourself from Scholarship Scams 1. If you must pay money to get money, it might be a scam. 2. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. 3. Spend the time, not the money. 4. Never invest more than a postage stamp to get information about scholarships. 5. Legitimate scholarship foundations do not charge application fees. 6. If you're suspicious of an offer, it's usually with good reason. Don’t be fooled by an official sounding name. Words like “National,” “Foundations,” or “Administration” in the title doesn’t mean it is a legitimate operation. A few tips regarding scholarship applications As the student, it is your responsibility to READ and follow all Scholarship instructions, and request your official transcript from the registrar (Mrs. Tornabene) in person. Please complete a gold transcript request form for each official transcript requested. It is YOUR responsibility to pick up the requested transcript from the Registrar’s Office and then.... for “In School” Scholarships submit the complete Scholarship Application to Mrs. Grady and make sure you meet your deadlines… 3:15 PM of deadline date! FEBRUARY 2014 ADDISON GIRLS SPORTS PROGRAM (AGSP) SCHOLARSHIP The Addison Girls Sports Program is pleased to offer (2) $250 Scholarships to graduating Seniors who plan to attend an accredited two or four year college/university or trade school. Applicants must have participated in one full season of an AGSP sport and possess a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 27, 2014. ATHS ATHLETIC BOOSTER SCHOLARSHIP The Addison Trail Athletic Booster Club is offering $500 scholarship/s to qualified seniors. Applicants must possess at least 2.5 GPA, have participated for (2) full seasons in good standing, one must be during their senior year, be a District 88 student for at least (2) years, and parent/s must be current and active member of the Athletic Booster Club. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 28, 2014. ADDISON COUNCIL PTA SCHOLARSHIP The Addison Council PTA is offering (2) $500 one year, non-renewable scholarships. Students must graduate from an Addison High School and enroll in an institution of higher learning. Applicants must also have attended an Addison District #4 School. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 24, 2014. COLLEGE OF DUPAGE PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS AWARD & DUPAGE SCHOLARS AWARD The College of DuPage is offering the Presidential DuPage Scholars Awards for 2014 Graduates. This full tuition scholarship will be awarded to qualified 2014 graduates. To be considered, students must have a composite ACT Score of 27 or higher OR an unweighted GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale or better on seventh semester high school transcript. Applications are available online at htttp://www.cod.edu/scholarships. The deadline is February 28, 2014. CHEF CHAD DORSEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Friends of Chad Dorsey are offering (1) $2000 scholarship to a graduating ATHS Senior planning on attending a two or four year University seeking a Degree in Culinary Arts or a Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts Program. Chad Dorsey attended Addison Trail High School and was known for his big heart, hilarious sense of humor, and most of all, his love for food. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 27, 2014. DARE TO DREAM SCHOLARSHIP Students who attended the Dare to Dream: Get Educated! Conference in 7th or 8th grade are eligible to apply for this $1000 scholarship. Dare to Dream Scholarships will help make dreams come true by offering tuition support to continue your education after high school. Applicants must be senior Latina females who attended the Dare to Dream Conference in 7th or 8th grade and plan to attend an accredited post-secondary school/program. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 1, 2014. BROOKE MARSHALL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Brooke Marshall served as a teacher at Army Trail Elementary School in Addison School District 4. Applicants must have completed grades 1 through 5 at Army Trail Elementary School and possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Scholarship applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 15, 2014. ADDISON DISTRICT 4 FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELELNCE SCHOLARSHIP The Addison District 4 Foundation for Educational Excellence is offering a $1000 scholarship to students who attended elementary school in Addison School District 4 and who will be furthering their education at a two or four-year college of university. There is no GPA requirement. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 15, 2014. DUPAGE JUVENILE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP The DuPage Juvenile Officers’ Association, the largest association of juvenile officers and youth workers in the state of Illinois, will award (2) $1,000 college scholarships this year. Applicants must be residents of DuPage County and planning to seek a career in law enforcement or youth services upon graduation, enrolled in a college/university in the Fall of 2014 and majoring in a field related to law enforcement of youth social services. Education majors do not qualify for this scholarship. Applications are available online at WWW.DUPAGEJUVENILEOFFICERS.ORG. The deadline is April 1, 2014. 2014 STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The 2014 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $10,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior College or career school. The program includes one $4000 scholarship, two $1000 scholarship and nine $500 scholarships. Simply log on to WWW.STUDENT-VIEW.COM. The deadline is April 20, 2014. JACK AND JILL OF AMERICA WEST SUBURBAN CHICAGO CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP Jack and Jill of America, Inc. West Suburban Chicago Chapter is pleased to announce the West Suburban Chicago Scholarship 2014. This is a scholarship opportunity for African American seniors attending high schools in DuPage, Will, and Kendall Counties. Scholarships are intended for undergraduate college attendance, beginning in the fall of 2014, at a qualifying college or university. All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the recipient’s school. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 10, 2014. AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR QUALITY SCHOLARSHIP The Fox Valley Section 1208 of the American Society for Quality announces the Richard A. Maas Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will fund one year of undergraduate tuition and fees up to a maximum of $2000. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 24, 2014. MARIANJOY’S STUDENTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Marianjoy’s Students with Physical Disabilities Scholarship is now available in the Guidance Office. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of: academic record, financial need, impact of disability in educations’ process, educational/career goals, and leadership within both the school and community. The deadline is March 31, 2014. AHEPA SCHOLARSHIP AHEPA Scholarship Foundation is offering scholarships to High School Seniors of the AHEPA 13th District Membership and the Greek Community. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and online at HTTP://WWW.AHEPA.ORG. The deadline is March 15, 2014. SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS SCHOLARSHIP The Sons of Confederate Veterans is offering a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior, male or female, who resides in Illinois and who will be enrolling in the fall at a community college, college or university. Applicants must be a descendant of a male who served honorably in the Army, Navy, Judicial, Executive, or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 15, 2014. DUPAGE COUNTY FARM BUREAU FOUNDATION ARNOLD OESTMANN SCHOLARSHIP This newly created scholarship has no agriculture studies requirement, however to be eligible, the applicant’s parents must be members in good standing of the DuPage County Farm Bureau for at least two years prior to January 2014. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is May 1, 2014. PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH SCHOLARSHIP This one-time $1000 Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior attending a postsecondary institution in the Fall of 2014 and who exemplifies commitment to community service, academics and demonstrated leadership. All applicants must be seniors at Addison Trail High School and must plan to attend an accredited Two or Four-Year College or University. Applicants must possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is February 14, 2014. BUICK ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program celebrates motivated, passionate college bound students who have succeeded both inside and outside of the classroom, and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance. Applicants should be enrolling as a full-time freshmen at a 4-year college/university, plan to major in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Design and are interested in the automotive or related industries. AES ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP AES Engineering is pleased to continue to offer $500 scholarships to motivated students. The belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining scholarship recipients. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by the evaluated essays submitted. Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wild spectrum of fields of study, their commitment to community service, academics, and demonstrated leadership.
